I just noticed that Groves is added to the Hatton-Ginger undercard in California for early March - this isnt a great sign that they have any intention of fighting Degale. Groves-Degale will be the next one to get pulled.

Probably just in case Frank Warren pulls Degale out due to the date clashing with his show.

Update! Just spoke to degale at York hall. Said he is definately fighting Groves next. Fight will be announced Wednesday. Said it was 100% not Stieglitz.

Groves is fighting in Huddersfield on March 5th. He was scheduled to fight on the Hatton bill in LA when neogiations with FW were in place incase it all fell through. I have it on good authority he is fighting a tall, lean... wait for it... southpaw. sound like a warm up fight?

A bit risky having a fight that close to a potential Degale fight imo

It is but I think if true that is a good decision. Groves showed in his last fight that he has a lot to work on.

Groves must think that he needs a warm up for the Degale and maybe he could do with a confident boost before fighting Degale but a Groves -Degale fight is to big a fight to risk on a 8 or 10 rounder in Huddlesfield about 6 to 8 weeks before the Degale fight. If he had more time before the Degale fight then a warm up would be a good idea.

I sill don`t think Groves and Degale will happen in April unfortunately

I'm sorry and I know I am crazy for thinking this but I don't want to see Degale-Groves yet, still to early in my eyes they both need another 1/2 fights.

I do but im really impatient, although after 1-2 more fights it definetly would be a much much better and bigger fight.

When this fight would be best is a tricky question.

The longer it is left the more potential there is for one of them to lose first, or for the gulf in class to be so evident that it wouldnt generate enough interest.

If they fight now, although it would clearly establish who is the best SMW in the UK it might not be as big as if they let it marinate for another year or so & give both guys a chance to raise their profiles & export coverage around the world.

I'd pay 2c them fight 2mrw but with the way things are with organising big fights (not a dig at Hayemaker) who knows when they'll finally give us the biggest domestic fight in years.
