what the hell is larry doing in a pro ring,he wouldnt be out of place fighing in the novices.man needs to stop wasting his money flying out to the wild card gym. #
haha, you see the ring introduction and think big black hard **** from hackney... .. then that happens.. unlucky Larry.. nothing to be ashamed about... Fair play to John
i have trained in the same gym as larry and to be fair to him i think he loses his head a little and the performance goes downhill. the first 20 secs he was showing ok head movement. then jumoped in , chin up throwing wild punches. and got koed. in the gym he is a liot better and more composed than he is in the ring unfortunately. and all those who think larry has power..... i dont think he has ever landed on an opponment with anything like full force! from what i saw he turns uinto a bit of an arm puncher in the ring and prob only generates 60 / 70% of what he is capable of! shame he didnt start younger as he could have been damgerous for anyone. and as others have said a really nice guy too.....
Well said, my thoughts exactly. It's shallow everybody going on about his weight when he's proven his stamina and has fast hands for his size. I can't question his dedication and he is a skillful boxer.
It was not much of a contest.Larry clearly trains but not for boxing. He just goes in and hopes for the best. Id have more time for McDermott if he looked like a fighter that wanted to move forward with his career. As ever though he looked a disgrace. He has decent enough skills but he wont get too far in that sort of shape.
i would'nt say that olubamiwo has massive power, he has a massive build, but does'nt deliver his punches with real power, he's never looked a massive puncher to me. he also can't take a decent shot either. he's a massive, intimidating looking guy, that can't fight when it comes down to it.
Looked to me like Larry landed some shots that would have wobbled or knocked down most of his previous opponents. Different story when you're fighting someone with a good chin. I'd love big John to get a Lonsdale belt for keeps.
Great avatar anb good post. Maybe if Larry spent less time doing weights in the mioor he would be a better boxer.
Congrats to McDermott! Cracking stoppage & lets hope he gets another crack at the British belt. Ref should have halted this on the first knockdown though as Larry was clearly shaking on the count of 9. Like the other posts Larry completely lost his composure and threw wild punches. I thought Boxing New's prediction was laughable though: Larry on points lol.
'One of the hottest prospects in the Heavyweight division'. Christ almighty the golden age this is not.
