Back in the 90's when JC Chavez was considered the best Mexico had produced, I used to say to myself, "Chavez is damn good, but pound for pound, Ricardo Finito Lopez is better". As I watch Manny beat opponent after opponent, I find myself saying the same about Nonito. Yeah Manny is pretty good. Like Chavez, he is a god to his countrymen. But when it comes to the finer points of the game. When it comes to skills. I say Nonito is the better fighter pound for pound.
"I am so happy Ricardo is not my weight," says six-time world champ Julio Cesar Chavez, whose lowest weight class was bantamweight (118 pounds). "I could never have beaten him." "Donaire would knock me out within 5 if we were at the same weight" - Pacquiao :hey http://www.***********.com/video-manny-pacquiao-donaire--undercard-trolling--36196
2 things... Julio Cesar Chavez was a greater fighter than Ricardo Lopez and proved it over a significantly more impressive level of competition. His quote was him being nice and humble about a fellow Mexican. ...Also Manny Pacquiao is a far greater fighter than Nonito Donaire and has proved it over a significantly more impressive level of competition. His quote was him being nice and humble about a fellow Filipino.
Nah.... Donaire has dominantly beaten HoFs where Finito hasnt and Pacquiao isnt a Coke head like Chavez is.
Ricardo Lopez would say the same about Chavez. Lopez has often said that Chavez is the best fighter Mexico has ever produced. There is mutual respect between both Chavez and Lopez and the truth is that both are in the same level and class as fighters. ATG's both of them. Nonito is barely reaching his peak, we will know more in the coming years, but from what I've seen, he's the total package. A more complete boxer/puncher than Pacquiao ever was, but you still have to prove it in the ring over the long haul against all types of opposition. The future will tell more.
nonito is ****ing good. he's very technical and has really good natural ability.. the guy has potential for greatness. manny pacquiao is still a better fighter though. he's done more, been in harder fights against bigger men.
