Big fan base helps. Means he will get allot of opportunitys other boxers don't get....and I think he has talant. Fighting journeyman will always be a struggle for his style as he is a counter puncher. Stoppages will come later in fights when he moves to 8-10 rounds simular to Cleverly.
Anyone know of an amateur kid called Jimmy Kelly??? Seen him in the gym the other week sparring some pros and he looked very impressive!!! Think he's won a few junior ABA titles....
Doesnt ring a bell. Try asking in here though; http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282231
Don't forget Khan is actually over a year younger then Gavin, but I see what you mean. I like Gavin, definitely the best LWW minus Khan and Mccloskey; think he needs to step it up now though!
If you're not including DeGale, Gavin without a doubt has unreal potential. These two are potentially special. Not just good but special. If it all comes together, they have a talent level far above what is the norm for our production line. I actually think Gavin is a little more complete even because his punch technique is tighter but he's just as evasive. The impressive thing is they know how to avoid punches without wasting energy which is crucial. If you can do that and you have good accuracy yourself you are going to heavily outclass people and I suspect that will be the case for quite a while.
Thanks for that - frampton sounds exactly the type of fighter me n the grilfriend like to see. seen gavin 3 or 4 times - do enjoy watching him, although the more moronic elements of his otherwise impresive support don't do him any favours. degale just gets better every time i see him - can quite understand why he got booed on debut but seems to have learnt from it and become al ot more aggressive. thought billy joe looked the best of the 3 when we saw him on that debut night, but disappointed/bit worried that he hasn't progressed as fast.found ourselves sat with his family - they and him were really nice people so do look out for him. had seen brook on tv and was impressed, went to b'ham; sooo looking forward to the jennings fight but was sorely disappointed
Saunders progress is what I expected because he's extremely young and not complete. It's more the fact he's fighting at silly weights that is concerning. I don't want to see him at super middleweight for ****s sake. What's he going to be at when he's 25, heavyweight? He started off quite impressively, hit a bit of a lull, and was impressive as hell last time out.
Still far too high. When he turned pro I imagined him as a welterweight, AT MOST 154lbs. He looks like he should be making welter to me so to be over 160 is awful
whats the story with Dean Byrne ,Arnie is he staying with you and when will he have a fight lined up if he is ???
