People like to say that a champ is judged by how he comes back from defeat, but if the champ doesn't lose then you have to judge him on that. Marciano is still underrated, but bottom line is he overcame the odds and retired undefeated. As for PBF: Judah was supposed to be too fast, Baldomir too big, Gatti too powerful, ODH too big and skilled, Hatton too aggressive, Castillo too vicious, Corrales too big, strong, and aggressive, but all of them fell in defeat to PBF. The man beat champs and he's done it effectively for the past 10 years whether we like him or not. So, although I think he will be vastly underrated as an ATG (just like Rocky) if he retires undefeated the fact is HE IS AN ATG.
Floyd HAS to take the Cotto fight. It makes no sense if he doesn't because Cotto is undefeated and has fought much better opposition than Hatton. If he doesn't take the fight eventually, it's bull****. You aren't p4p number one or an ATG if you don't take the fights that are there. Everyone else we still remember did. Duran took every big fight there was, as did Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler. Floyd HAS to fight Cotto, he has no choice. That's my opinion, anyhow.
Good points but I'm a bit more amazed by Marciano though: 1) He had something like 15 amatuer fights 2) He began his pro career in his mid 20's 3) He beat 4 all time greats: Louis, Walcott, Charles, Moore. Granted they were pretty old, like DLH 4) He had a huge KO raito 5) He won 49 times, Floyd needs 10 more. Still Floyd's fantastic.
You guys [Black and Arranio] are proving my point. The same way you are dogging Marciano's undefeated record is the same way people will dog PBF's and say he was never tested. I am not comparing their level of comp and I am not saying they are on the same level skill-wise. What I am saying is that PBF is an ATG, but will be underrated just like your underrating Rocky now becuase we never found out how he would respond to a loss.
He Didn't Pick His Fights. He Fought The Best Avaliable. He Left With No Underfeateds Behind Him......MARCIANO!
Unfortunataley people tend to ignore the lightest weights. Don't kid yourself though Marciano if anything is underrated.
you are a joker, i bet you dont rate white fighters do you????, every post you write all sound the same , go slap yourself:bbb
yes, and he was knocking out men when he was a kid, tyson based himself on the greatman himself, i am black, but i feel most black peolpe on here hate to rate white fighters, and tht pisses me off,
