Floyd won the first 5 rds, and there was some competitive rounds to, where I believe floyd got the better of it on the inside when he had to fight like that. Plus he beat him with a broken right hand which occurred sometimein the 4th. And guess how much my opinion counts? Zero. It was a close fight, stop it with the nonsense.
Also people tend to forget that Marciano fought as a heavy when technically speaking he was more of a cruiser than anything else. And he still managed to clean the division at the time. Also, we must remember that in the only fight in which he was presumably losing on points, he knocked out his opponent to win the day. When Pretty Void was losing to Castillo... he just lost to Castillo and was given a gift for his efforts. :yep
Marciano? He just won a title and defended it 6 times. Floyd defended only his 130 title like 8-10 times. Floyd is by far above Marciano.
I think for Floyd to be on a par with Marciano, he should have been a 140 lb guy beating up middleweights his whole career. 49 times. And then retire undefeated. I don't know...
Marciano is very underated. Joe Louis himself, who many consider the best heavy of them all said in multiple interviews that Rocky was the hardest, most punishing fighter he ever fought. He praised his endurance and incredible determination and heavy punching. BTW, Joe was only age 33 or 34 when he fought the rock. Hardly an ancient age for a heavyweight. Hell, Wlad's turning age 32 soon and he's clearly just entering his prime. Rocky found a way to win every time against every style put in front of him much like Mayweather is doing today. They are both awesome fighters.

****ing hell,poor old rocky gets so much ****,yet heres a guy who trained like no other ****er trained,he was always in bang on shape,and his heart was ****ing huge,he just threw every punch at you,till you were ****ed,he was a machine,louis said it was like fighting a human windmill,he never stopped punching,get over yourselfs for hells sake,if hes over rated then every single champion before and since is as well.
So what was he meant to do then?,go back in time and fight,freeze himself and fight later?,i mean come on guys he took on every one who was around,and quit like a true warrior,he never bothered making a prat of his record by a half arsed comeback either which i respect,i mean he could have maybe took on patterson but why bother if he did not need the money,or the hassle getting back in shape
If you're not impressed with Rocky, check out his fights with: Louis, Charles, Walcott & Moore. I watched the Moore fight the other night and one thing that often gets overlooked is his unorthodox defense where his head sometimes is as low as his knees and he bobs in seemingly every direction randomly. He's almost the polar opposite of Floyd but both with extremely effective results.
Although I am a big Marciano fan and dislike Mayweather, I have to agree with you here. Even though Mayweather has 10 fewer fights than Marciano, he's beaten more elite opponents and proven himself a legitimate legendary champion. If Mayweather retires now, he belongs in that cream-of-the-crop sphere with Rocky- top 20, maybe even top 15 of all time.
