Montiel vs Donaire " Rematch "

Montiel could have a chance if he is more aggresive. But needs to hurt Nonito early. If he dont hurt him, then same result will happened.

 

Donaire most likely stops him, but if anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt it's Montiel. He'd need to show what he's got in a few buffer fights first. Rushing straight back in there any time soon with Nonito with such a huge gulf in confidence between the two would just put him at too big a combined physical and psychological disadvantage.

He'd still have a puncher's chance if he worked his way back up and seemed OK, and tasted victory a few times. He'd need a defensive strategy, though...because it could take him several rounds to be able to touch Nonito with something big and every second before that would be fraught with danger.

 

The first two posts couldn't be more different.

 

That sweeping right won't work for him like it did with Concepcion. Dude needs to remember to get off, then guard the grill. Looked like he feinted a left hook, then threw it. Should've been a decent strategy if it were anyone but Donaire. Lost $100 on Ko-Chulito. Thought he'd fight a bit safer at the start, then figure out a plan of attack. Apparently, he never got past the :think:huh:think stage.

 

Despite having a few early knockouts, Montiel prefers to start slow...especially against high-level opposition. He isn't going to change his stripes in his thirties, and he certainly isn't going to blitz Donaire.

 

There is a significant disparity in skiil level between them.......
......and Donaire simply looks to me like he's naturally bigger than Montiel, which means Montiel is without any physical advantages.....

laughed at the use of emoticons! agreed on this... Nonito adjusts early in a fight, and always seems ready to throw that KO punch. I think the size advantage and speed is just too much for Montiel.

 

I'd rather see a Montiel vs Darchinyan bout first. Perhaps only then the victor to rematch Donaire.

 

Montiel never start that fast, usually after a few rounds. This time he only studies for 1 round before becoming the agressor.

He needs to stick to his defensive self instead of trying to make a point on HBO by being an exciting aggressor ...


also this rematch I only want to see it, if Montiel moves to 122 and become world champ, while Nonito stays at 118 to unify, or Face Tourney winner.

Soon after all that, meeting up at 122 with Montiel again for a rematch that both men stated they wanted whatever the ouctome.

 

Pass. Difference in class. Montiel is good. Donaire is great. One dent in Montiel's head is one dent too many.

 

Same results?

No probably not. Montiel is a smart fighter, so considering that he fully recovers from the psychological and physical shock I'm expecting it to be more competitive. If there's gonna be any KO or KD it's gonna be in the later rounds.

And there's a bigger chance that these two will meet again in the next higher weight class.

 

This. And not in this stage of Montiel's career where reflexes may be sliding, something he'll need against Donaire. There's other great fights to be made for both fighters. A rematch of this massacre isn't one of them.

 

Yes, same result, Montiel KO'd again. There is no need for a rematch, Donaire is simply too big for Montiel.

 

Donaire by KO again for a relatively easy win. Donaire looked real fluid and comfortable against Montiel and boxed with a more relaxed attitude.

Montiel looked stiff as a cardboard cutout and appeared to be thinking about his punches before throwing them instead of just firing away.
