I was thinking I heard that saying before. Goes well with me mate though as he would still like to believe that wrestling is real.

What I love about casual fans, is how when asked who is going to win, they look of into the distance, think about it momentarily, then come back with stuff like, 1st round knockout, to them its like its a lottery or something, like there is no form guide to go by, no thought to how styles will match up.

When I was in the pub after Haye-Harrison someone said that David Haye-Manny Pacquiao would be a good fight, I had to hold my mate back from smacking him (well not literally but he was very pissed off).

Heard that before as well. :patsch

I have one mate who is a little clued up on things and one who tries- stayed up to watch the Bradley Alexander fight after I told him it could be smasher- unfortunately not.

I recently had to explain to someone that Khan Vs Froch wouldnt be a great match up,

Also a couple of years ago whilst discussing the current state of heavyweights some one said " Ali would be turning in his grave!!"

heard this one many times "hattons **** didnt you know never fought no one mate" they seem to say it but its just something they have heard and repeated which must make it true wankers or "khans the best in the world no doubt " oh there are more than doubts

IMHO the friends with a little boxing knowledge are a bigger PITA than the ones with no boxing knowledge.

I've got mates who like boxing, but don't follow it. They are always ready and willing for an all nighter for a Vegas fight.
But they're good lads and generally don't spout bollocks and watch the fight for what it is and don't have any pre conceptions which is great as it avoids arguments. Some casuals can be good!

"I didn't know the film the fighter was about Micky Ward"

Said at my local boxing gym a few weeks back.

So what is the difference, if any between an event junkie and a casual fan?

I have a mate who likes to think he knows a lot about the sport but in reality he knows **** all. He bet me Hatton would beat Floyd, then told me Paulie would knock Hatton out  He also swore blind that Marquez would beat Floyd after telling me proudly "Every man has his day Dan, Mayweather's not getting younger" although presumably Marquez is ?????

He's also tried telling me that he doesn't like DLH because he never really fought anyone. I could deal with the Hatton bollocks, I could just about deal with the Floyd ****. But after that DLH gem i stop listening when he talks boxing now, and refuse to answer my phone to him if there's been a show televised on Sky that night or the day after

I'm with Gaz here, the lads with a 'little' bit of knowledge are a bigger pain in the arse than the ones who admit they know nothing and want to see a fight

They both **** me off but the ones that act like they know what they are talking about make me very very very angry :fire

    Haye-Pacquaio
    Hatton-Calzaghe

Oh god how I hate it when they sprout their utter bollocks.
