I will try to get Welliver himself to come on here and back it up. He posts here from time to time.

For those who do not know, Chauncy is actually the new Co-Host of "On the Ropes Boxing Radio".

Here is a recent interview with him from our show:

And who the **** are you to say that?

Chauncy is a class act, a gentleman, and he is a huge fan of the sport we all love.

I for one, have a great deal of respect for his opinion and I wish him the best of luck.

Nobody said KJ ducked me. We were never offered the fight. If they show me the money, I'd do it, and no disrespect to Kevin Johnson, but I doubt they'd pay good enough, hence, Julius Long.
The reason I "disappeared from the card" was as Charles said, the promoter had no money. We offered to fight Monte Barrett on the card and even Oliver McCall. McCall took another fight elsewhere and Barrett flat out said no. I never even heard Johnson was on the card.

Bottom line is, you can keep saying I gotta fight a top 20 guy, and your right. It's not as if your posting a newsflash I haven't fought a top 20 guy. I and everybody else knows. I'm down to fight whomever will step up to the plate. You say, "They complain about not getting a top 20 contender". I didn't know we ever complained about that. We did complain about not getting a fight with the #2 contender in the world, David Tua. I'd love that fight because I love and represent New Zealand and he is like Michael Jordan down there. He chose a different path. What can I do?
We've offered Rahman. He said no. We've offered Mormeck. He said no.

I understand people wanna help us matchmake, but with no promoter, there simply isn't enough money to get the top guys. Yes, that's me and my teams problem, but we make with what we got, and if any fighter wants to ask me to fight instead of me having to offer little money to them, I'm open to go fight these guys on their promoters cards.
If for instance Kevin Johnson so badly wants to fight me, he can have his promoter call. We're open for the fight all they have to do is offer a reasonable purse and I'll give them an autograph on a contract. :yep

Hey bro. I'm training and dieting better. Well, I'm flat out training and dieting.
My power is coming from speed. I feel so much more energy in the ring losing the 50lbs. I honestly thought that if I lost to much I'd be weak. The diet is good and I feel strong.
I went 12 rounds before with ease, but with the weight off, I go 12 throwing way more punches. Now with a little more power. :thumbsup

No "independent source" unless you know if the matchmaker of the card posts here. ;) Why else would anybody else know how it went down? It was between my "garage band" management and the matchmaker. :yep

So KJ calls you out, yet doesn't offer the fight. Really? And you don't even know he's on the card? Either your team and promoter have a disconnect in communication or someone is less than honest. You're saying if the matchmaker and your team didn't know about it, how would anyone else? Well the public knew KJ was on the card, and we knew he issued an open letter mentioning you by name along with Cedric Boswell I think. There was no response to it other than you vanishing from the card.

A tree fell in the forest, people were there...yet you're saying it didn't make a sound? I don't buy it.

Well the money WAS good enough for Julius Long, I'd think it would be good enough for you. Sure he's lost to quite of bit of contenders, but you know what...he accepted their offers and got in the ring with them (of course he has a valuable physical attribute that's appealing). You might have a trinket and a rating, but you're no draw (barring NZ perhaps) and you're record is padded with Z-level opp.....why SHOULD any contender pay you above Julius Long pay? You're not bringing anything to the table financially and they'll get little to no credit if they beat you Chauncy. That's why even a shot Tua won't bother with you. They're not scared.

Complaining about not getting a fight with #2 Tua qualifies as complaining about not get top 20 opponent. Though considering him a legitimate top #20 opp is debatable at this point (so would KJ), but still it qualifies and I'd certainly give you due credit if you beat him, FWIW.

"and if any fighter wants to ask me to fight instead of me having to offer little money to them"

That's sounds like a sparring partners promo, not a rated boxer seriously looking for a fight. It doesn't quite work that way, as I'm sure you know by now :D

    I agree with this.

I have respect for all fighters, but honestly if welliver really wants to get his career moving he's probably going to have to take on a tough foght for low $$$, the heavyweight division is empty now.

If you want my honest advice Chauncey, i'd get myself on TV in new zealand calling out shane cameron, I know he's at c/w now, but he'd come back up.

I have spent a lot of time in NZ, and they are FANATICAL (to the point of being unrealistic) about their sports-people, but you aren't even a blip on the radar Chauncey, which is why you ended up fighhting at the leisure centre in tauranga last year, 5 minutes from where i used to work..

You must be doing something wrong, because I dont think it's everyone elses fault that your carrer is moving as slowly as sam peter in a pool full of molasses

Chauncy, you don't have a promoter? Why? You've got a great team behind you, and a promoter should be part of it. Cedric Kushner only has Tua in his stable now, and promotes on a fight by fight basis. I'm sure he'd promote you. Shane Cameron had a pretty good matchmaker in New York City who got him good fights.

But aside from all that, can't you talk to the WBC or WBO to order some type of box off with another top ten guy?

Full props for coming this far. Now I'd like to see you continue your journey for a title shot. And with POWER!

How would anybody else know if I was offered the fight? You say there needs to be an outsider backing it up. Name me an outsider who would or wouldn't know who was offered what. I was taken off the card because my team didn't wanna end up paying everything for my fight because the promotion was falling apart. We were on the card and the promoter started going lower with money, and wouldn't even send the contracts to me or my opponent.
Bottom line, I'll say up. You'll say down. I'll say red. You'll say blue. I love that you are a critic so hard because you keep my name out there every time you write something about me. Good or bad, I'm being talked about, so I thank you. ;)
And for the "sparring partners promo", that's me saying I can't find a promoter to get these guys to fight me, so if they really wanna fight, they'll have their promoters back it. :good
At the end of the day, I'm trying to be better. Losing weight, training hard, have a new trainer to help with power, so all I can do is try to get better. Your opinion is just that, YOUR opinion. I'm sure you'll get people to agree with you, say I'm crap. I don't belong. I need to step up. I'm keeping active and if I could force guys to sign contracts, we'd be all good, but I can't. I'm in the roughest business in the world, and don't "play ball" with the big time promoters or kiss there ass' so don't get help from them, but, I have moved forward all the same. Up until a year ago I did it with no money, no help, and really no athletic ability.
I've never sat around saying "I'm the best" or "I'll kill the Klitschkos". I just train for whatever fight is put in front of me and do my best to win.:bbb
I do thank you for your giving me motivation to push further. :happy

Also, to answer another question on my post, me and Oliver McCall were never offered a fight with KJ. Nobody knew of him on the card til he paid his way on and called all of us out with that weak release.
