The President of the he World Boxing Council (WBC), Jose Sulaiman, is planning to send a letter to the Nevada State Athletic Commission to reprimand*referee Russell Mora, who worked last Saturday's fight between bantamweights Nonito Donaire and Fernando Montiel. The WBC will complain that Mora should have stopped the fight when Montiel was dropped in the second round, and instead exposed the fighter to suffering further injury by allowed the bout to*continue for a moment longer.

"It was a fateful decision, a criminal act. Montiel was in a poor*state and after telling*him walk to it and*he does not, and after asking*him to raise*his arms and*he do not, he still allows him to continue," Sulaiman told Sal Rodriguez. "We are going to*send a letter to the commission to put him (the referee)*in training before*placing him in*another championship fight. We will object to this*referee whenever we can."

Oh **** OFF, alright. He was okay. Montiel had the heart of a lion and he got up and as a champion should be given the benefit of a doubt. The referee was fine to let it go on, Montiel said it was fine and thank god he jumped in on time. This Sulaiman needs to eat a dick. Stop ****ing with a mans job just because he gave the champ a chance.

Butthurt. What if Montiel was a Filipino or a Black-American guy? Would he do the same?

i dont think the ref even saw the leg twitch that Montiel done after he was knocked down, he was more concerned with getting Donaire to nuetral corner, although Montiel stumbled at the first attempt of getting up, he was remarkably steady as the ref completed his count. As soon as it was clear Montiel could not defend himself the fight was called off, not the best stoppage i've ever seen but not nearly the worst, i cant see what the referee has actually done wrong come to think of it.

he did go from almost asleep, to almost completely normal in a split ****en second...which tells me that montiel was in tremendous shape.....

the ref allowed him to go out on his feet, and not his back...i aint complaining

jose needs to shut the **** up already...didnt he step down from the wbc and let his son take over, so why is this man still popping up on headlines....

I fault the referee for allowing Montiel to continue despite him not even being able to give a response. It could have ended really badly, but thank God the referee came to his senses immediately when Donaire landed two more hard shots.

I really dont know what everyone is getting all crazy about. Montiel actually looked fine once he was up and even when he took the left hook after the KD he still looked ok to continue he had his hands up and look to be able to defend himself. I think if he held Donaire he couldve survived the round.

The KD was brutal and the move he made on the floor which I dont think was a twitch but just him trying to get up he just didnt know where the hell he was but once he got to his feet he looked pretty much recovered.

I think the WBC should suck a dick. If this was really about a ref they'd keep things quite. This can be translated as follows, "Hey Nevada state athletic commission, kiss our ass or else....".

There seems to be an unspoken rule in boxing that says the Champion gets every chance to keep his tittle. Montiel was the champion. He was given a count that despite his twitching he beat. This is a dangres tridition the fight should have been stopped when Montiel was on the ground twitching.
