Pretty significant, I think. He's been touted as the "new Pacman" by the British press. Obviously if a fighter is going to be a huge star, they need to be known internationally, so hopefully this is a sign that Donaire is actually moving towards superstardom. It's rare any fighter gets column inches like he has in The Mirror, so it's even more significant that it's a rising star, even though Donaire is currently in his prime.

Good to see though. Donaire is a terrific fighter who deserves the title of the "new Pacman".

His performance against Montiel is an ATG level performance.

I'm not saying he is an ATG, just saying it was that caliber of performance.

I wish people would judge him as nonito without comparising him to pac (e.g. messi-maradona). I really see him being a big star I hope he makes it.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that. Montiel really is a very good fighter and Donaire walked through him. I don't think Donaire would have any problems mixing it up with Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales or Naseem in the lighter weights.

It really depends on who Donaire fights in the future.

A few more performances like the Montiel one and I wouldnt be surprised to see him on Soccer AM.

Yeah, the key with him now is to ensure he doesn't have another few years like he's had post-Darchinyan. He should have fought much better opponents than he did in that time period.

Sucks to be compared to someone else just because of your ethnicity, but the press can't hurt, I guess.

He hasn't even beaten a career Bantamweight yet and you already think he would hang with those 4 at 122-130?

I know he looks to have the frame for it but it is FAR too early to be thinking along these lines. People need to take a step back with Donaire.

Considering extremely light weight fighters (below FW) usually dont get any press at all, thats quite impressive he makes international news.
