I would say B-level trainer.....Donaire is just a gifted boxer and always has been gifted even before getting with garcia, and with all do respect to Robert Garcia cause he seems to be a good guy doing well with his boxers but in the case with rios and margarito its not to hard to tell a guy get in there put pressure and throw punches cause i really dont see no head movement or anything technical about how they fight....
not all his fighters fight like that his brother mikey garcia is a technical boxer, so is alfonso blanco, he trained brian viloria for most of his career too. EDIT: he trained victor ortiz from when he was a kid to his first few pro fights until they had a fall out.
I caught that too. He said "He's a world champion. He's got tricks. He's tricky." Got to respect him for keeping the bull**** level to zero.
It's like I've always said, the guy doesn't change your style, but adds to it. So you won't be stuck on a plan A only. I also like the way he is very meticulous and he pays attention to every detail, even the small ones.
Yeah. Donaire was a special fighter before he went to Garcia, but even so, he did improve him as a fighter. I thought he did a great job in the Rios fight last night. When it looked like Acosta was going to take the fight over in the 4th round, he got him to calm down and made him stick to the gameplan and he eventually broke Acosta down and took the title. Like I said, I give him a B+. Very good trainer, but not quite at the elite level...at least not yet.
Has had quite the impressive stable for such a young guy (36). [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Garcia_Cortez[/ame] I'd give him an A without question and his youth gurantees he'll be an all time great trainer before all's said and done.
Freddy Roach needs to take some notes of how to take care of a boxing gym. Wild Card looks like (and probably smells like) a shithole.
What about Mickey Garcia?? The guy clearly is the complete package and he fought good opposition lately and was very impressive doing so. Garcia is a world class trainer!
That's how I see it Royal. In this weekends fight, he was giving Rios the proper instructions to get the better of Acosta. Credit to Rios, he followed directons properly and delivered. Let's see if his yougest brother Mikey can win a title in at 126. Mikey is on a roll showing great improvement, but that division is stacked. Roberto Garcia has defenetly made a name for himself as a Trainer in these two past weeks.:good
