Ryan Rhodes withdraws from European title fight with Konecny

Just a brief post:
Have some common sense some of you please. Could this not mean that he's close to securing something bigger?

Sometimes you have to pull out of purse bids in order to protect ur position.

I don't mean to be rude, but the slagging of him on this is unjustified. No need for personal insults.

 

Could it not still happen, but for the vacant WBO instead?

 

I don't see the problem, there's no point messing around with the European title right now.

Realistically speaking both he and his manager ought to be sat beside the phone waiting for a call, and ticking over, rather than committing to a purse bid and then several weeks training, which might lead to a pull out from either party anyway.

 

Yep being waiting for that news of something bigger ever since he beat Moore.......

 

Yep, cant argue with whats happened since the Moore fight, but **** happens in boxing.
For all the fans who feel so personal about how his career has stagnated - i'm sure he's more pissed off than u guys.

I'm talking about now, there's discussions going on about something bigger, remember he was slagged about the small pull out only to have moore lined up instead. What i'm saying is it could be a similar thing, he's not in the purse bid because if he enters then pulls out due to another fight happening it could jeopardise his euro ranking, whereas this way it doesn't.

If whats going on at the moment works out, you'll all be happy again, if it doesn't - well at least a big fight has been tried for and then he goes back to the european.

But unfortunately boxing doesn't always work out how we want.
Look, he was supposed to be in line for this wbc tournament.. just waiting for a date etc.. so he waited. then they go and make the alvarez match.
little things like that don't make things run smooth.

 

In all fairness its frustrating for everyone because we are all fans fighters trainers and promoters to a certain extent and the will of the sanctioning bodies who essentially do as they please.

dave i dont think people are especially angry at Rhodes i think 90% of people on here want to see him in a title shot but they are just frustrated as i am sure you are. I hope there is something on the horizon for Rhodes because it would be great for Ryan and the fans.

The way Rhodes has been treading water since the Moore fight has been a severe disappointment. He really couldn't afford that at this stage of his career.
