New bout on cards for Shane Cameron camp




Shane Cameron has tabled a fresh offer to Danny Green for a June fight and his manager, Ken Reinsfield, believes there's now as good a chance as ever of Cameron meeting the IBO cruiserweight champion on home turf.
Negotiations stalled and crumbled last year, with Green denouncing Cameron's capability to offer him a competitive fight. But Reinsfield says a fresh approach to Green's handlers ****** Manolikos and Angelo Hyder met with a warm reception and he will proceed with a formal offer next week.
"There's a good chance it will happen now," Reinsfield said. "I don't give up on many things."
He hinted that Cameron's demands had softened and Green was being offered significantly better terms than before, saying: "Danny Green is the champion so that puts him in the driving seat. That's the way it is.
"We're aware of that and we accept that he will get the lion's share of the revenue. We don't have a problem with that. If he's willing to travel and to put his title on the line, the package would recognise that and compensate him for that."
Another aspect in Cameron's favour is that Green has been ill and out of the ring and a low-key comeback fight in New Zealand could appeal.
Reinsfield said if Green agreed to a June date, Cameron wouldn't fight before then because he wouldn't want to jeopardise the bout.
Alternatively, American BJ Flores, who Green beat on his last outing, is tied to a promotional contract with Green's company, Green Machine, for one more fight.
A Flores-Cameron bout could make sense as a lead undercard bout to Green's next promotion.
Reinsfield has also had brief talks with Australia's leading domestic cruiserweight, Dominic Vea, about a Commonwealth title contest.
