If Wlad isn't his next fight and the public don't buy into it as much, the stats will be there for Wlad to say 'well you're not worth as much now'. Arguably.

Haye's footwork is ****.

Sure it's quite fast, but he's often off balance and has a leaky defence. Someone that can actually counter or cut the ring off effectively would expose this almost immediately.

He only looks slick because his movements are exaggerated.... it's not as if he's like Mayweather or Whitaker who could have their feet bolted to the ground and still make you miss all night long.

He's really not that good, end of story.

Nobody knows that more than the man himself, otherwise he'd have fought Wlad back in June 2009.

 

If Mayweather fights Martinez, he will be the challenger with no belt at all, yet he won't make a single concession.

I don't think either fighter should have to bend over backwards; if they both want it, they should both do equally as much to make it happen. However, we know what Haye has accepted and I don't know a single thing that Wlad has. I'm not saying Haye should be praised but at least be fair about it.

People think that Haye is 'the one' to beat Wlad just because he's one of the few decent challengers.

It would take a 6-10 Heavyweight from the 90's to beat a fighter the calibre of Wlad IMO. The gulf between Wlad and the rest of the division (including his Brother) is huge.

What is Haye good enough at that he becomes 'the man Wlad has to fight'. His belt means **** all. He won it off a man who lost it to a guy Wlad beat pretty easily.

His competition is decent for the amount of fights he had there. A 15-20 guy (sparked by Cliff Couser of all people), a fairly effective freak in the top 5 (outside the top 20 in any previous era) a solid but past-it fighter that he pounded on for rounds and rounds and didn't legitimately stop him (something which genuinely dangerous HW punchers have done historically) and an absolute joke.

He doesn't punch hard enough to be considered a 'K.O artist', doesn't finish well enough to convince that he'll get to Wlad (an expert survivalist and big lump who can take a beating long enough to get his bearings against a sloppy, wild finisher) after a short beating, isn't elusive/talented enough to keep out of harms way for the rounds he'll need to chip away at Wlad (or win a decision) and doesn't have the kind of whiskers to make you think he can walk through Wlad.

Haye is nothing special. Wlad isn't an ATG IMO, but he's effective, has a heavy punch (don't consider a 'great puncher' though, bar Ray Austin and Chambers who of real quality has he sparked? Hesititant or not a HUGE puncher doesn't need to hand out prolonged beatings to a shot Hasim Rahman, I would still say that aesthetically Wlad appears a bigger puncher than Haye, I mean, who has he sparked? No one.)

There are greats he matches up well against. In fact, as skillsets go, being able to really use your size is much, much better head-to-head than low punch output and lots of moving with a porous defence.

I'm ranting, I'm rambling ad I'm stoned. Wlad is just much better than Haye, in the grand scheme of things it really means nothing if this fight doesn't come off. People are acting like Haye is the guy that's 'got Wlads number' when he isn't really that much better than Wlads opposition in the last few years (Sam Peters reputation as a dangerous HW when Wlad first fought him was far greater than Haye's is currently) and the way he's going, the legacy he secures isn't going to warrant him a place in too many peoples minds when thinking of 'fights that could've cemented Wlads legacy'.

I don't think Haye is amazing either but he is better than all the other Heavyweight contenders and has the tools to knock Wlad out.

What was said that you thought was out of line? 'Better than all the other contenders'? Why? I've said why I don't think he particularly is and why he doesn't have the tools to be 'the man' to take Wlad out.

Do you have reasoning or are you just biased towards a British fighter? Why does everyone want to see this fight so much?

It ain't that relevant IMO. Or maybe it doesn't feel like it because of the **** surrouding the fight, I don't know.

Fact is, if they don't fight Haye will have little legacy. People act like it's the other way round :rofl

Using the logic of A beat B better than C beat B and then D beat A so that must mean D beats C, neglecting context and styles.

You're coming up with hypothetical situations, "how many times would Haye have gotten up against corrie sanders..."

The facts are Wlad has been down countless times, he's been stopped 3 times by purrity, sanders and Brewster for christ's sake. I'd say Haye is faster than all 3 and hits harder than all 3. He's faster than all of Wlad's opponents since the brewster loss, has quicker feet, and there may be guys who have more one punch power in there but not with the speed, speed and power is what gives Haye a chance.

Haye may have been down a few times but he has got up to win at the end of the day.

What makes you think he needs to walk through Wlad? I think he'll do what he always does. Potshot, and move around. He won't be too bothered about landing his punches initially, avoiding the jab and then looking to time it and counter it. He'll be patient and eventually land, that is the way I see the fight going.

When Wlad gets hit he will panic, unless he has developed the mental strength he has never shown before...

Wlad is hardly the toughest guy to figure out, jab jab jab jab jab jab right hand jab jab hold.

yep,styles make fights,simple,and mental toughness wins fights,wlad lacks this at times,haye is more natural a fighter.

wlad shows nothing new,he does the same things each time out,he might lean and clinch more,and try upppercut ala lewis did to tyson,but it wont work.

Haye will have him figured out and then some.

Wlad wont be prepared for hayes combination of speed power and movement.

 

Going on the available evidence, look at it objectively, Haye's maybe as good as an Eddie Chambers or a Calvin Brock.

There are probably four of five names on Wlad's win column as good as Haye, with perhaps better heavyweights achievements than Haye too.

BUT Haye's a banger, and that's why the fight is interesting.
He can hit hard, and hits fast.
He has a better "puncher's chance" than anyone Wlad has fought in the last few years.
He probably gets shut-out and stopped rather one-sidedly. But we will tune in on the off-chance that he lands something meaningful.
