Two reasons: Cameron and Tua hyped the NZ public to the point that all New Zealanders wanted to see who was king of the hill in NZ. Lots of trash talking, and neither would get in the ring for under $500,000. Then it was up to the promoter, David Higgins, to sell the corporate tables ($15,000 for a table of 10), plus all the other seats. He sold the place out, and there was no PPV. Mr Higgins did quite well, BTW.

Now, as I mentioned in this thread earlier, Maori TV is televising this fight to all NZ homes. Free. And there are two important rugby games happening: The Warriors League team from Auckland is in Australia, and punters will watch it on tv, and also the Auckland Blues will play just down the road from where the Tua fight is being held.

So, the promoter needs to get boxing fans off their bums from watching it free to air on Maori TV, and go pay to watch it live. And the fight needs to get rugby fans to support Tua and not the Blues or Warriors.

The good news is that tickets are cheap, with top prices (nor ringside) starting at $60.

Too much to pay for watching an irrelevant, never-was, shot fighter like Tua:deal

Yet it's true, watch for the rugby fans and concert goers Tua is relying on to agree.

Yep. Ambitious to get 3 thousand I would suggest at $60.

$60 is the top price. Believe it goes down to $20 for an adult.
