I did a search for this one, but couldn´t find this thread done here...... Well...Essentially name a fighter and rate him based on the following categories Jab- Hook- Cross- Uppercut- Defensive skills- Offensive skills- Footwork- Counter-Punches- Power- Speed- Ring Generalship- Combinations- Feints- Accuracy- Timing- Killer Instinct- Body Punches- Upper Body movement- Chin- Heart- Stamina- In-Fighting- Range Fighting- Opposition level- Scale : 1- VERY poor 2- Poor 3- maybe poor 4- Below Average 5 just average 6- above average 7- Good enough 8- very good 9- Excellent 10-THE best, GREAT ! This is a little tiring, maybe, but could be very important....I don´t know, anyway.....here goes !! :bbb:bbb
Jose Napoles: Jab- 9 Hook- 10 Straight- 9 Uppercut- 9 Defensive skills- 10 Offensive skills- 9 Footwork- 9 Counter-Punches- 8 Power- 7 Speed- 9 Ring Generalship- 9 Combinations- 10 (One of if not the best I've seen at putting Combinations together) Feints- 9 Accuracy- 10 Timing- 10 Killer Instinct- 9 Body Punches- 7 Upper Body movement- 10 (Very economical movement) Chin- 8 (Unsure on what to say here, never really seen him in trouble from big punches but that was mostly because usually none ever hit him (Off the top of my head anyway), so can't really tell. Monzon hit him with some huge punches and he seemed fine) Heart- 9 Stamina- 9 In-Fighting- Didn't see that much from him, he was great at staying in his comfortable range. He could do it well when needed i.e stuck in a corner and needing to get away / move opponent back. Range Fighting- 10 Opposition level- 8 could be lower if pushed and compared to say Langford and Greb but I'll leave it there. One of the few boxers whom I saw no real weakness in other then of course his paper thin skin.
If Napoles's defensive skills are a 10, his footwork's a solid 12. Also, what does that leave for the likes of Locche, Zapata, Lora, Benitez, Whitaker, Pep, etc.? 15's? This content is protected
And if his Ring Generalship is a 9, then what does that leave for the likes of Orlando Romero and Mauro Mina?
Evander Holyfield (the prime version - which is the one between 1988 and 1992). Jab- 7 Hook- Cross- 7 Uppercut- 7.5 Defensive skills- 8 Offensive skills- 9 Footwork- 8 Counter-Punches- 7.5 Power- 7 Speed-7.5 Ring Generalship-7.5 Combinations-8 Feints-7 Accuracy-9 Timing-8 Killer Instinct-8 Body Punches-8 Upper Body movement-7.5 Chin-10 Heart-10 Stamina-10 In-Fighting-10 Range Fighting-6.5 or 7 Opposition level-65700000000000
There is no attribute of any fighter's more overrated than Holyfield's stamina (and to a lesser extent chin). This content is protected
Alright then sorry lol may of been of on one or two, didn't really put plenty of thought into it. I was thinking about his Defensive skills at 10 and was considering moving it down because of Pep, Locche and Whitaker, if we are really going of them best then they should be 10 and then Benitez, Napoles, Mayweather etc at 9. Imo anyway. But going off of 1- VERY poor 2- Poor 3- maybe poor 4- Below Average 5 –just average 6- above average 7- Good enough 8- very good 9- Excellent 10-THE best, GREAT ! Then it was imo above excellent but it's still not with Pep, Locche etc if you catch my drift.
Marco Antonio Barrera Jab- 7 Hook- 9 Cross- 5 Uppercut- 8 Defensive skills- 6 Offensive skills- 9 Footwork- 6 Counter-Punches- 8 Power- 5 Speed- 8 Ring Generalship- 8 Combinations- 10 Feints- 5 Accuracy- 9 Timing- 9 Killer Instinct- 8 Body Punches- 9 Upper Body movement- 5 Chin- 8 Heart- 8 Stamina- 8 In-Fighting- 7 Range Fighting- 8 Opposition level- 9

There is no film that I know of Cocoa Kid. These values are the results of research of many detailed fight reports from boxing writers who would describe fights nearly blow by blow and who were considerable analysts in the 30s-40s. Comparisons of these reports, which came from several different sources and states allows us to get a pretty accurate view of Cocoa Kid's style and abilities. Cocoa Kid Jab- 10 Hook- 8 Cross- 9 Uppercut- 8 Defensive skills- 7 Offensive skills- 8 Footwork- 9 Counter-Punches- 7 Power- 8 Speed- 8 Ring Generalship- 8/9 Combinations- 8 Feints- ~6 Accuracy- 9 Timing- 8 Killer Instinct- 6 Body Punches- 8 Upper Body movement- 7 Chin- 7 Heart- 7 Stamina- 9 In-Fighting- 8 Range Fighting- 10 Opposition level- 9 Scale : 1- VERY poor 2- Poor 3- maybe poor 4- Below Average 5 just average 6- above average 7- Good enough 8- very good 9- Excellent 10-THE best, GREAT !
Ezzard Charles Jab- 8, a solid weapon - uses it well as a multi-purpose tool and to start his work Hook- 9 - his most potent weapon Cross- 7 - a solid punch for his arsenal Uppercut-8 - lovely shot uses it to head and body, and as a counter, throws it off the jab superbly Defensive skills- 6 - as he became older he grew defensibly, at his prime he had defensive capabilities he was just offensively orientated, Offensive skills- 9/10 - in his prime his offence was dazzling, one of the most potent fighting machines ever Footwork- 9 - he wasn't called the cobra for nothing, always poised to strike despite being out of range, good mobility and ability to creat punching space Counter-Punches- 7 - Not an integral part of his style but he was mean with the counter Power- 8 - Could take you out in 1 shot as he proved with Marshall and Bivins, but generally was a solid puncher. Speed- 8 - a massive part of his offence was with dazzling speed Ring Generalship- 8 - Solid ring gneneral, controlled the bout with his skills excellantly and used his offence to take command Combinations- 9 - superb combinations, brilliant mix of power and speed and really put them together well. Feints- 8 - Quality feints using it to unsettle and mis-position his opponents, watch how he out-feints Marshall to land his uppercuts of the jab. Accuracy- 10 - Superb accuracy and punch placement Timing- |Ditto Killer Instinct- 8/9 - In his prime he had it but after Baroudi he struggled like mad, in his prime he was a solid finisher Body Punches- 9 - solid and steady body puncher, could end it with one Upper Body movement- 6 - not spectacular but he coulkd do it Chin- 6 - his only weakness IMO, and it wasnt that bad Heart- 8 - Was doubted for it at times, but proved himself against adversity many a time Stamina- 8 - could go 15 at a brisk pace, nothign extraordinarily though In-Fighting- 7 - Nothing amazing at this but I love the way he creates punching room for himself, and he can hang in there although its not his prefereed distance Range Fighting- 8 - Could controll the pace very well form the outside Opposition level- 10 - Very solid competition from an early age.
Yes, he did. His stamina never showed any signs of lacking (in fact he showed it to be quite strong in his few distance fights) in that area during his prime.
Buja, what do you make of Tysons claim that he had lung problems and that he always looked to end fights early because he knew he would have stamina troubles later on?
