I think Whitaker had a better defence than Mayweather, or at least, it was more proven in terms of quality of opponent.

Mayweather was tagged a few sneaky right hands by Marquez and absolutely nailed by Shane a couple of times.

Whitaker was a dodger, Floyd a blocker.

It's a shame Mayweather didn't face the best opposition available to him at 140 and above whilst they were at or close to their primes, boxing history would remember him much more kindly in my opinion than it will do as things stand.

And Mayweather has been hit a lot. In his last two fights he hast been hit much but De La Hoya, Zab and Hatton. They all got their punches in.

Early in his career Hector Camacho Sr had excellent defense his 1-2 was the best at the time.

Even in his younger days, I never thought much of Camacho's defense. Technically he was only really good at parrying, otherwise he relied on his super fast feet to get him out of harm's way. His head and upper-body movement were nothing to write home about, whereas someone like Jones Jr. on the other hand was a stand-out in those regards despite being similarly lumped in with the primarily athletic standouts like Camacho.

I'd put Benny Leonard and James Toney in the mix as well.
