Hendo is outlasting Fedor/Nog/Crocop/Wandy/Hughes/Chuck etc - is his ATG star rising?

the fact he is still beating people at the top of their divisions (in particular organisations) is definitely a factor. Its interesting aswell because we are seeing fighters suffering from wear and tear due to wars so the fact hendo is still around putting people down is impressive

 

Not to downplay Hendo's achievements which are marvellous. But i think he has benefited immensely from the HRT which has allowed his career to be extended significantly. That said Hendo is a lock for the top 10 all time. His achievements are unparalleled by anyone else in and around his weight.

 

I already rank Henderson very high, but last night didn't hurt. The Feijao win is a very good victory, but the StrikeForce light heavyweight title isn't the same as winning the UFC's respective title at the moment. The 205 division, in the UFC, is stacked right now. StrikeForce's roster doesn't suck. Henderson, King Mo, Feijao, and Mousasi are all at the very good-elite level.

I thought it was bull**** the Henderson was cut from the UFC before getting a rematch with Silva. Henderson won the first round against Silva, and went on an impressive 3 fight win streak afterward.

 

i think he's definitely top 5 atg, but i'll always have fedor on top...

Cut was the wrong word. The UFC wasn't willing to pay Henderson what he thought he should be earning, and I don't think a Silva rematch was on the foreseeable horizon.

 

Zuffa should never have cut Hendo, that much is clear.

 

It was contractual. The UFC tried to give him chump change Henderson walked. And rightly so. Plus they would let him wear his brand Clinch Wear.

 

This. Hendo knows he doesn't have many years left and with the UFC only paying him pittence he did what any sane person would do: Maximized his potential earnings by going elsewhere.

 

Fedor lost to a 280lb beast who is probably better pound for pound than Feijao.

 

Lets not get carried away, Hendo is great but Fejiao looked like a deer on headlights last night. His cardio blows aswell.

 

Who's fault is that? Hendo is 40 years old and still fighting at the highest level in this sport. Not even Randy Couture is doing that in the style Hendo is. Hendo is the truth.

 

In fairness to Randy, Hendo is 7 years younger, and is really a different style of fighter.

Henderson has a better chin, and and is more explosive. Henderson hasn't been developing a lot of new skills as his career has progressed. I doubt he will be near the level he is now in 5 more years if he does not begin adding to his arsenal.

Couture has far more tools, skill wise. Couture has developed his game as he has aged, and I think that is why he avoided the sudden drop in level of performance that awaits Henderson. That is if Henderson keeps fighting for several years, and does not adapt his game with his aging.

I rank Henderson higher pound for pound, and would take him against Couture head to head too. I just don't the gap between them is all that much, and would take a 45 year old Couture over what I envision a 45 year old Henderson to be.
