I need to watch some Gilbert Melendez and Eddie Alvarez.

I can see Gilbert Melendez being ranked very highly, but #1? Damn it Bas! I'm just about as big a fan of yours as you can possibly have but that's just plain stupid.

No way one can rank Melendez over Edgar right now. Even with his recent draw - Edgar still holds impressive wins over Sherk and BJ Penn. The Aoki win was nice - but he's no BJ Penn.

Alvarez is badass. I wish he would make it to Strikeforce or the UFC.

Alvarez is probably my favorite lightweight. The Melendez fight needs to happen.

I'd put Edgar first and slide Aoki back a couple spots. But otherwise, it's not a terrible list. I'd love to see Alvarez in Strikeforce or the UFC. I love that guy.

Edgar has to be first because of the 2 BJ wins and because he did draw with his number 1 contender.

    I would say:

    Edgar
    Maynard
    Melendez

H2H I would put Melendez first as I really, really rate the guy. However when you look at Edgars victories over BJ you'd have to put him first.

    Mine would be

    1. Edgar
    2. Melendez
    3. Maynard
    4. Alvarez
    5. Pettis
    6. Henderson
    7. Jim Miller
    8. Kawajiri
    9. Aoki
    10. JZ Cavalcante

Solid list. I have no problem with Melendez number one. Melendez would own Edgar if they ever fought.

I'm not too sure about that one. Melendez's standup is too sloppy for somebody like edgar i think. Edgar beat Bj standing up remember?
