Cotto and underappreciated should not go in the same sentence.

He's the third biggest draw in boxing. How is he underappreciated?

Everyone always has something negative to say about someone.. Cotto is far from underrated and unappreciated.. He may have haters, but they appreciate him.. He has had a great career, a huge following, and always is willing to fight the best.. How can you not appreciate him?

Couldn't agree more, he is too often described a shot one dimensional warrior who fights the best (Gatti) but his skills have become so underrated just because he got beat up (badly) against two great fighters and bad stylistic fights. I also don't think he is as shot as people make him out to be, the only thing i would question him on is his move to 154

Cotto's problem is a marketing one.

He was being billed by Top Rank as this I'll-die-in-the-ring, walk-through-the-fire-to-land-body-shots, never-stop-attacking brawler.

And yet, he has spent the end of 4 of his last 5 meaningful fights (excluding Jennings and Gomez) in various degrees of retreat mode (Mosley, Clottey, Margo, Pac).

I'm not saying it's his fault, but the marketing didn't match the product.

He's a boxer-puncher with a better than advertised boxing skills and the ability to brawl (if needed). Nothing wrong with being that. And as people start to accept him as that, he'll be better off.

I think you picked the wrong guy like everyone on here is saying. Cotto had the most watched event last year on HBO. He is probably the number 3 PPV seller in the sport.

    Under appreciated Cotto is not.

He gets called out on his flaws alot but to me thats what got him to number 3 PPV.
Also he is definitely not 1 dimensional. Its just the haters dude.

Cotto's my favorite modern era fighter. I don't hear that many people putting him down. A few *****s and *******s here maybe but who listens to anything they have to say anyway?
