And one more thing, which hasnt been discussed or considered by anyone, Fitz will have a far bigger and better entourage to Tyson. Expect Larry Foley and/or Peter Jackson to play a big role in distracting Tyson's boys, in fact expect either of the two to lay out Don King and/or whatever other stooges are in Tyson's corner cold if they get too rowdy. It doesnt happen nowadays, but the entourage can be extremely influential in fights and this also could be the difference.

    I keep thinking Mitch Green.

Ok so that was because Green tried to steal Tysons wallet (apparently)

Hate to think what he would do to Fitz. And i like Fitz.

Cant see too many beating Tyson, this is his game.

Stop thinking Mitch Green right now.

There have been quick knockouts in gloved boxing matches.

There have been quick knockouts in street fights.

    But-

In the 200 year history of bareknuckle fighting, there have been verry few quick knockouts.

Tyson is unproven at HW, Fitzsimmons is imo top 3, bro. Too mentally weak to deal with Fitz.

It is verry apparent to me what you think.

It is equaly apparent that you have given the matter 30 seconds thought in your entire life, have formed a dogma on the basis of that 30 seconds thought, and that I could probably pick a man off the street who could give the matter a better analysis.

But if anybody could end that...its Iron Mike Tyson, look at what he did to Mtch Green with one punch, now imagine multiple punches. Tyson is the sort of guy who when pushed into a corner (Like Holyfield 2) would do ANYTHING to come out of that corner.

I cannot stress too strongly that this sort of thing just didn't happen in bareknuckle prize fights.

There won't be any multiple punches or combination punching.

Tyson will eventualy have to stand back and pick his shots. You wouldn't even recognise him as the same fighter.

I understand the question but the result in my mind is the same...Tyson by KO. Fitz's best weight was high 150's...I just don't see a man that size beating a beast like prime Tyson especially if Mike was given time to train in bare knuckle fighting. If Tyson rushes Fitz and connects with a fast combo flush on Bob's chin then Bob wouldn't come to scratch in a week never mind 30 seconds. There comes a time when physical superiority and speed outreach other attributes and I think this is one of those times. Too much size, speed and power here.

i haven't voted but i think we have to be careful not to discount peoples votes and opinions just cause they don't mesh with the expected or the general tone of the thread.

If sombody is so mentaly lazy that they have voted for an outcome that is not possible under the ruleset in question, then why should their vote be counted or treated with respect?

How is it impossible? Tyson punches him almost murdering Fitz and Fitz wakes up 10 minutes later. You saying early KO's hardly ever happened doesnt make it impossible, el janitardo.

The style of boxing at the time essentially negated the likelihood of a fast KO. Fighters leaned away from each other and looked to place thier blows rather than wade in and throw combo's. The bare knuckle style got a lot of it's methodology from fencing. Circle thrust and parrry. As boxing evolved the styles changed. This is due in large part to better equipment but the styles changed nonetheless. With that being said I still have a hard time seeing someone like Fitz beating the likes of Tyson. Fitz might have his moments but Mike is too commensurate a force to be kept at bay for long. His power and speed would just be too much for the LPR's to be a factor. He would end things before it had a chance to work against him. Mike was something of a novelty in the 80's. Imagine how he would be percieved 100 yrs before.

Even if you flatten your opponent, you still do not win by knock out. You win when your opponent fails to come up to scratch. So in London Prize fighting it is impossible to win by Knockout. And I specifically asked 'Who wins in a London Prize fight'?
