Gerry Cooney vs. Floyd Patterson

Cooney barely held up for 2 rounds. I think Holmes was content on peppering him before eventually finishing Cooney off, he hardly went all out for the knockout.

Don't kid yourself, Ellis had Bonavena on the floor 2 times and even an older Jimmy had Shavers staggered before walking into a right hand. Jimmy had decent pinpoint power. Jimmy KO'd Johnny Persol in 1 at lightheavy and stopped Leotis Martin as a Heavyweight. Jimmy had good power.

 

Prime Patterson detroys any version of Cooney.

 

In my opinion it boils down to this...If Patterson can make it out of the early rounds relatively unscathed then he wins. Probably by stoppage. If he can't then it's Cooney KO. For the record I lean toward Patterson
