Can't wait to see Dzinziruk again!

Dzinziruk is pretty competent and gutsy fighter up against a superb champ last night. I personally don't find him that entertaining to watch but people shouldn't unerestimate him just because he was outclassed last night. Martinez is something special!

 

Sergio took some mean shots. That being said Dzinziruk it techniclly sound but he's not an elite fighter.

Maybe i'm being bit harsh but he's fought **** all until last night and he was exposed

 

He looked like a fighter that lacked confidence. His game plan was obviously to keep his hands high and figure Martinez out but in doing that he gave Marinez all the momentum and allowed Martinez to dictate the fight. After a couple of rounds it looked like he had ran out of ideas, Martinez kept his hand low and taunted him by sticking his chin out but unfortunatley Dzinziruk wasn't prepared to risk going for it. Great performance by Martinez but Dzinziruk was well below par, I wouldn't judge him on this performance alone

 

Martinez looked great last night.....Not sure if that contributed to Dzinziruk looking a bit stiff and overmatched.

 

Dzin found a good amount of success? When? Where?

Otherwise, I agree with the overall sentiment of this thread. I'd like to see him again. He was game, and never lost heart...only his legs.

Let's have it right though, Martinez put on a clinic. People talk about Naseem Hamed being schooled by Marco Antonio Barrera, well, this was much worse than that.

 

atsch Naseem Hamed was outboxed in every second of that fight. It was a boxing schooling from start to finish.

 

Hamed won 3 rounds. Dzinziruk won 1 on my scorecard. Hamed never really came close to being stopped. Dzinziruk was knocked down five times on route to being stopped. Martinez was infinitely more aggressive than MAB was in his fight with The Prince, and therefore as a result was landing more power shots on his opponent, more jabs on his opponent, hence the knockdowns and inevitable finish.

Trust me, this was more one-sided than MAB/Hamed, which has been blown out of proportion through the years. The rounds MAB won were sometimes clear, sometimes not, whereas Martinez pretty much dominated all of his with the exception of round 6.

He won 2 rounds and in 1 of them both of them didn't do anything of note and I gave it to Hamed on aggression. That fight exposed Hamed as fundamentally flawed fighter. It was a boxing lesson from start to finish. The bogus scorecards were made respectable to salvage some reputation for Hamed who was a big cash cow.

 

In any event, he certainly won more rounds than Dzinziruk did, and he also still had his legs underneath him at the end of the fight.

This was a beatdown. I don't understand how having two mildly successful rounds can overshadow what happened before and after. Martinez spanked this kid. Plain and simple.

 

Yeah Martinez has turned into a beast, a Donaire of the higher weight classes if you will.

I don't understand the disrespect to Dzin though. Montiel was praised for a great chin, heart in numerous threads after a much worse showing than Dindziruk at a weight where he was a champion.

Don't misunderstand me on Hamed: like I've said in the past he is underrated in terms of achievement and should be inducted in the HOF soon. He was a very good fighter.

 

I have nothing but respect for Dzinziruk. He fought bravely and he deserves credit for not losing heart, and he still tried to win the fight when many other fighters would have all but given up. But it is what it is. Martinez was dominant. Five knockdowns doesn't even begin to tell the story. He was jabbing the head off of a fighter who was most known for his jab. Martinez beat him at his own game, and then took him out in a fashion that no self respecting Boxing fan could ever dispute.

 

Exactly. Last night wasn't a case of what the Razor did wrong but rather a testament to the fact the Martinez is simply operating on another level. Dzin won rounds 6 and 7, and I thought he was on his way to making the fight more competitive when Sergio hit him with that moneymaker.

At 154lbs, Dzin's ideal weight, he'd be a handful for anyone, including Paul Williams.

 

i don't think he came close to winning a single round. I'd like to see him again sure. Dzinziruk against Mayorga would be interesting.

 

Dzin won rounds 6 and 7 on my scorecard and was clearly finding the range with more regularity.
