I like Tarver and Jones. But i hate the rest of the HBO team, they all seem to want the attention. I prefer the Showtime team, they are very respectful of Tarver and his opinions. Maybe get Tarver and Jones to take over HBO. I think because they were once rivals, their knowledge and banter would be terrific.
Roy Jones is the best expert analyst in boxing today. Just as in the ring, he has an unorthodox, dynamic and entertaining style outside, as an analyst. He doesn't come off condescending or arrogant, nor does he belittle the fighters as some of the other hbo commentators do.
i hear ya man, the rest of the hbo guys have been coming awfully arrogant for the past couple of yrs, they disrespect fighters on a regular basis, it just brings the telecast down to a negative level.
Kellerman thinks he knows more than Roy...lol If you notice he always tries to challenge what Roy says or asks him to elaborate despite .. if you know boxing you know what Roy is talking about. When he was saying Segeiwhatever needs to be first and Kellerman could not compute his point.
I knew this was what you were going to post the entire time. I seen this post turning out this way from the beginning.
Yeah but you can tell he respects Roy a lot and even when Roy disagrees with Max, Max rarely counters back. And he asks Roy what he thinks a lot...I think its funny though when Kellerman says something about how Roy was in his prime and Roy doesnt say anything he just laughs lol. I dont like Max, but he want too bad last night.
Kellerman needs to stop being on Roy's nuts. Roy is better when he doesn't have some ******* trying to talk about him. It really gets in the way of the commentary. And I have to laugh at the comment above claiming that Roy just states the obvious. Tarver's pretty good, but wake me up when Tarver predicts when the knockout is coming, with which punch, and why it's going to happen. That's what Jones can do.
It shows you how Roy commentates when Kellerman asked him if Martinez's style (hands down) reminded him of any active fighter, and Roy said "Definitely, that's why he can..." and continued with some explanation that had nothing to do with the question.
Too bad Roy could not outbox Tarver and got his fragile Glass Jaw shattered. Jones has no Chin. None.
I couldn't stand the manlove being sent his way all night via Kellerman, but he's good to listen to. Jones that is.
inside kellerman there is a real boxing fan struggling to bust outside of an hbo groomed, conditioned shell. agreed on him gargling Jones' dong though, embarassing for a grown man to keep doing that ish. Lewis sucks, Steward sucks. Jones has always been the better commentator between him and Tarver; his anecdotes, his insight in the matches, and his overall charm goes through better. Tarvers a nice guy and he says the right thing a lot of the time, and he's a better speaker than Jones, but he's just not as enjoyable IMO. Showtime commentary still beats HBO though
Oh hell naw, RJJ didn't outcommentate Tarv, having spitting out these these gems: "His corner picked the wrong Mexican tonight", referring to Lenny Z's corner during the middle round of Vasquez Vs. Lenny Zappavigna "...Or maybe he hit Mayorga on the chin so hard, it broke his hand", after the stoppage, Cotto Vs. Mayorga
Tarver sucks I don't know why people think he is better.. RJJ wins by a mile. tarver always has so much trouble speaking, its irritating trying to see him complete a sentence.
