Why was Miguel constantly taking so many punches?

I have a feeling many of you were influenced by the terrible commentary from the Showtime guys... I watched the fight at a bar with no sound and thought Cotto barely was hit clean by Mayorga and when he was hit took the shots very well. In one instance when Mayorga landed a few punches right at the end of a round Cotto looked at him and laughed at him.

I heard the Showtime guys were making more of Mayorga's missed and grazing shots then they should have. Most of the replays showed Mayorga throwing 4-5 wild punches and often coming out without landing a single clean shot.

With all that said... Cotto was in a fight, he was going to get hit. There are maybe two guys ever who were able to fight and barely get hit. Cotto won nearly every round and stopped in the 12th round. Mayorga was bigger than Cotto and stronger and Cotto took him apart. I understand Mayorga is past it, but that fact didn't stop many from saying he would beat Cotto.

On the other side of things, El Matador has always had a knack for landing on guys he logically shouldn't due to his awkwardness.

I have been saying it all along.
Margarito will stop Cotto again. Specially at this higher weight. Margo looks to be getting stronger. If Pac could not stop him or stop him from coming forward with a broken eye socket then Cotto eventually gets walked down. YOu need to get Margaritos respect, have big punching power or have endless stamina to beat him.

Hardcore Cotto fans just want to believe that Margo only won because he had plaster embedded with diamonds in his gloves that night.

*Because he fought Mayorga in the pocket*

*Because he keeps his hands fairly high and tries to punch with power when he's in the pocket, meaning his shoulders are tight, so its harder to react defensively when punches are thrown back at you*

*Because despite making improvements to his stance, he still has a tendency to revert back to what he used to do, which is lean in a bit at times (mainly when he's looking for the left hook), he also fights with his his chin down, tucked in, so when he does lean in a bit, it becomes more of an issue*

*Last but not least, it seemed to be part of Steward's strategy for Miguel to get Mayorga's respect to keep him firmly in his place, only Cotto was almost too aggressive at times imo*
