Really hope this fight gets sorted out. When this fight was first discussed thought Groves would edge, after seeing them both perform in recent monthes I reckon De Gale knocks him out, has improved vastly.

It was a hard fight to score imo, very close.

If I was forced to choose, maybe Groves just gets the benefit of the doubt, as he might of outhustled De Gale somewhat, that said, I expect it to play out a little differently in the pro's, as maybe Groves cant sustain such a high tempo in a longer fight, and De Gale is probably a better fighter when they have some separation between them.

both will have clearly improved since that fight.

i think degale looks like hes got the edge just cuz hes been fighting tailor made slow stiff brawlers who are easy to hit and to slow to hit him good enough or outbox him.

not sure of groves calibre of opponents, but he looks to have good power, good movement, good tight punches.

DeGale by stoppage. I used to think Groves would do it, but now I don't even doubt DeGale as he has pulled away so much since the amateur days.

    That is a good point.

I think De Gale is always going to look less than stellar against guys who dont come to win, as he's reluctant to open them up due to his defensive nature, which is kinda what happened when he made his debut, the guy didn't come to win, but De Gale was too defense orientated, to prize him open and take chances. De Gale is a % fighter imo, the more you press him, the more offense you get outta him, which is why he can look less than stellar one min, but spectacular against the right kind of opponent, that said, we have to be mindful, that when all said and done, Smith is a domestic fighter, one who suited his style down to the ground.

I dont rate Groves that much as a Boxer, but he is a decent to good offensive fighter, and he will surely give De Gale a competitive fight.
