Maravilla is far too hittable. Any serious boxing fan knows this would have been hard too watch... like a Kitten in a cage with a Pitbull. Just a matter of time.

Martinez might actually beat the 1987 version of Hagler. Hagler was slower by then, easier to hit, didn't have the legs he used to, didn't have the foot-speed he used to. Not the same guy who boxed circles around guys like Sibson and Hamsho or mauled and bombed out Hearns. I actually would have Martinez as a live underdog.

Leonard also had declined by 1987 as well.

The Hagler of earlier years, especially the one who fought Sibson, should soundly beat Martinez.

    Martinez's advantages
    - Technical skills
    - Defense
    - Movement
    - Right Jab
    - Punching technique
    - Power
    - Chin
    - Experience vs. top-level opponents
    - Versatility
    - Strength
    - Physical attractiveness (no homo)

    Hagler's advantages
    - Mustache
    - Intimidating look
    - "WAR" cap

Martinez beats that face-first brawler all over the ring. Can you say Calzaghe-Lacy?

It would be competitive for sure, but if Sergio is a g Marvin is a don. I think a Hearns-Martinez would be a better matchup.

No chance. Hagler wins 20 out of 20 times. No joke.

Think about it, Martinez knocked Paul Williams out in one shot (and Williams has an iron chin). Williams and Hagler are both Southpaws. Therefore, Martinez would knock Hagler out. The only question is which round the brutal stoppage comes in. Round 4, anyone?

He's not being compared to them. He's being matched.

It's always like that after a big fight. or a good series of wins.

I may getting caught in the hype but i think Martinez holds up against anyone in any era.

    I know i know....i'll get flamed.
