Just in that year alone there was ......

    De La Hoya
"beat" Sturm to become a 6 weight world champ, then went on to be in that superfight with Hopkins.

    Shane Mosley
Fought and was defeated twice by Winky Wright

    Roy Jones
Aura of invincibility was ripped away from him when he was ko'd by both Tarver and then Johnson.

    Lennox Lewis
Went on to retire which left Vitali to have a great fight with Corrie Sanders to stake his claim as the world's top heavyweight.

Barrera and Morales finished there trilogy in wha was a brilliant fight.
In the same year Barrera beat Paulie Ayala and Morales beat Jesus Chavez and Carlos Hernandez

Pacquiao and Marquez had there first fight which ended in a controversial draw.

Felix Trinidad came out of retirement to have an absolute war with Ricardo Mayorga.

Kostya Tyszu returned after almost 2 years out to destroy Sharmba Mitchell

Floyd Mayweather and Joe Calzaghe kept there winning runs going.

Nate Campbell did the dumbest thing in recent boxing history

Mike Tyson got taken out in 4 exciting rounds by Danny Wlliams.

Casamayor and Corrales had there rematch.

The likes of Jermain Taylor, Juan Diaz, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Paulie Malignaggi and Samuel Peter all started to emerge on to the world scene.

I'm sure there is more also but I cant really think of anything else so was 04 the most eventful year in the last decade for boxing.......

I agree with everything except Tarver taking away Jones' aura of invincibility in '04, he did that in '03. Some actually thought he won the first fight and Jones had to dig really deep in order to win. Not only did Tarver take his aura, he also removed Jones claim as a top fighter as he hasn't been on the top since then. '04 was a great year.

When you compare it to last year where the biggest fights were Pacquiao vs Margarito and Mayweather vs Mosley it really puts it into perspective how good a year it was.

We might have had the two best heavyweight bouts in this decade too that year...

Byrd-McCline and Byrd-Golota were both epic... And we might have had David Hayes one and only loss! Can't wait to see what's going to happen. If he can't knock off the brothers, nobody can :admin
