There were so many quality heavyweights on the scene at the time. Though Tyson wasn't his best anymore, he was still dangerous and confident. How do you think Tyson would have fared against the following men at the time?

    Shannon Briggs
    Ray Mercer
    David Tua
    Michael Moorer

Is there anyone else that you wish he had fought during this period?

I'd like to have seen him fight Lennox Lewis during this period,Hydraulix. Lennox was hitting his peak, imo while Tyson was still pretty dangerous,as you say.

I too, wish that Tyson had fought Lewis during those years. Tyson would have a much better chance of winning, as Lewis was evolving while Tyson still had heart and self confidence at the time. If forced to pick a winner, I'd go with Tyson, because he wouldn't submit to Lewis as early as he did in 2002. He'd show up to fight.

I'd like to see Tyson and Mercer go at it, as well. Anything could happen, but I think Tyson would probably get outmuscled and discouraged by Mercer's nonstop attack.

I think 95-97 Tyson knocks out Shannon Briggs. But both men would start tiring after the third round or so. But my money is on Mike.

David Tua, I think, would beat this version of Tyson by knockout in a brawl that would last for a few rounds because neither man would back down until Tyson gradually packs it in.

Michael Moorer gets knocked out by Tyson, I reckon. As evidenced by his knockout losses against Foreman and later David Tua, Moorer never learned that you shouldn't plant yourself in front of a massive puncher.

I would have liked to have seen a McNeeley rematch.

No! Don't let the nasty Mr. McNeeley wrap Mike in a "cacoon of horror" again! :scaredas:

McNeeley ruined Tyson. No one ever comes out of his "cocoon of horror" the same person.

Tyson-Mercer would have been utterly fascinating.

Tua. It would be a HW version of Hagler-Hearns ending in a 3rd round KO.

Mercer. I'd actually give ol' Merciless a shot; at least he'd go down in glory.

Tua. I'd give him a better shot than Mercer.

Lewis. It's a shame that Tyson paid Lewis to not fight him.

Bowe. It would have been a war and I'm very uncertain as to who would have won it. Bowe was on a rapid slide, but could still absorb insane punishment. Tyson wasn't what he used to be, but the 1995-1997 Tyson is underrated and could do some serious damage to Big Daddy.

Tyson should have definitely taken a different path back to the title than McNeeley and Mathis Jr. I would have liked to have seen Tyson fight guys like Mcall and Mercer, possibly Rahman. David Izon was almost an opponent. Those type of tests would have probably made him closer to a 10-12 round fighter before he faced a Holyfield or Lewis level guy even though the consensus was that Holyfield was washed up. Things would have been a lot different had Bruno not beaten Mcall in my opinion. Tyson would not have fought Mcall with only 4 rounds of action against creampuffs.

True, sometimes u feel maybe they rushed him into Holyfield (possibly because he was deemed shot)

He needed guys who he had a good cahnce of beating but would push him to the limit, the mcalls, the mercers etc

Its after the Holyfield fights were Tysons career really went down the drain except Golota.

David Tua sucks balls, im sorry, i used to like the guy but hes way overrated. What happened when Lennox hit him? he was in his shell all night, but somehow hes going to walk through Tyson (albeit a faded one). Nothing more than a punchbag.
