Is Martinez picking on smaller fighters?

    /end thread basically lol.

    The only "small fighter" he fought recently that you could say(weight-wise) is Dzinziruk. Pavlik was bigger height & weight-wise and hasn't been beaten at MW until Martinez made him look like a bloody mess. Williams beat him before and the rematch made a lot of sense since the first fight was so damn good and controversial. Nothing at all wrong with him facing Williams especially since Williams thinks he's the boogeyman of boxing. So in all, NO he's not picking on smaller guys. Him fighting Pacquiao and Floyd would also make sense because he's near them on the current PFP lists(I have him over Floyd now). The thing is, Pacquiao could never make MW without a crappy catchweight and Floyd would never fight Pacquiao now that Pac looks dangerous, is still kinda young, and is active so what would convince him face Martinez in these times? Nothing.

    No I don't believe so. However, if he wants to fight another lightmiddleweight i.e. Margo, angulo, alvarez, cotto, pacman then he should do it at 154. Otherwise his next fight should be vs a legitimate middleweight like maklin, chavez/zbik, sturm, pirog etc. His latest run of opponents have been outstanding, I just hope he goes about it the right way.

    The rematch clause specifically called for a rematch at 160. Pavlik could not make the weight, and you know that as well as I do.

    Martinez is now only focused on securing big-money fights, and in doing so, he's turning his attention to the little guys.

    Martinez struggles to make 154, says 160 is a comfortable weight for him to make.

    Margarito was a WW 2 fights ago, Williams floats around but really has no business above 154. Martinez is naturally bigger than both.

    I said at the start of the Thread Pavlik was the naturally bigger guy, people just choose to ignore this.

    Because its not like Ward doesnt have buisness to attend to with Abraham, and Froch, and probably Bute, for the next year or so, easily.

    For the record..... no, hes not.

    I consider Williams, Cintron, and Dz, just about the same size as martinez, and Pavlik, much bigger.

    Calling out the two best fighters in the world, Mayweather and Pac, is not 'picking' on anyone, but yes, those two would be smaller. Big deal.... every middleweight has fought the smaller, p4p stars. As long as legit threats are also handled that are his size, like Williams and Dz, I dont see the problem.

    He's the third best fighter in the world and he's calling out the top two, who are a division below him and have both fought, and won titles at, the weight he was in for a large part of his career.

    little to gain fighting solely 160 fighters, although i'd like to see him clean out the division (never happens these days). why fight 168 fighters? most are no-namers and martinez is new to 160 anyway. cotto, mayweather and pacquiao have all won belts at 154, and would be more exciting fights because they're bigger names. martinez is doing the right thing, keeping busy at 160 while he waits for the money fight. very hagler-esque.
