When he called out Pacman and they needed an excuse as to why Pac would never fight him.

hmm... on the other hand, martinez fans are saying otherwise so that he can avoid fighting the super six guys.

Martinez said he cannot fight below 154 anymore, so he is a big junior middleweight. But as a middleweight, he is probably average sized. Not small, or big.

He is ****ing 36 years old so you expect him to gain weight.

so it was ok for floyd to call up marquez who had 2 fights at lightweight to welterweight, it was ok for pac to weigh in 145+ on fight night against super featherweights but martinez cant do similar?

Martinez knocked Williams out a week after Pacquiao beat up Margarito. And Roach actually voiced his concerns during camp about Pacquiao fighting so high up. Their decision to go back and stay at 147, was before the talk of Martinez facing Pac heated up.

Ask Williams that. He was the one who demanded it.

Im stating the reason he didnt want to fight PW at the catch weight was because there was no reason for it. It wasnt because he couldnt make it like u said. After he actually signed for it they interviewed him on it and he said no it will not be a problem and he would honor the catch weight.

YEa now that you mention it i remember the replay shown before their fight.
Also of course Roach and everyone else was saying it was too high going up to that weight. Thats what they were selling the fight on. Its not like Margarito was coming off impressive wins or has some awesome skills to sell the fight with. It had to be sold on size. Talk about Martinez-Pac was definitely brewing even before that. IT did hit an all time high when Pac showed he could perform against "elite" LMW and also picked up Martinez old belt. The one he gave up 4-6 months before then.

After Cotto signed for 145 against Pac, he too said making it will not be a problem. The same thing happened with Martinez. He and his team preferred 160 because it was easier to make. I remember reading this. The reason you're talking about, is also true.

If you also look back at Cottos history though you know he has always had trouble making weight. at 140 he was extremely drained. At 147 he had to get a nutritionist just to make weight. At 154 he seems to be good.

Martinez i cant remember ever saying he was weight drained or any history of problems making weight.

Roach voicing the problems of going up, wasn’t just to sell the fight. It was a genuine concern. They made it perfectly clear that after they’re done with Margo, they’re going back down. And please, stop with this nonsense of “if Pac can win a LMW title, then he can fight there again”. No one cares about the stupid title he won, and neither does he (since he gave it up to move back down). Also, a slow-ass 150 Margarito is completely different to an athletic, hard-hitting 154 Martinez. Just because he can fight the one, it doesn't mean he can fight the other.

Thats the thing though he is claiming history the wrong way. If he wasnt making history it would have been ok but he is so thats where the problem comes in. Hey what about Roach and Arum saying they wanted to fight Cotto at 154?? Its still a possible fight and you can bet your ass if he beats Margarito thats the next fight that will be made in November.

Cotto was a good welterweight. I don't remember him having serious problems at making 147, and was very surprised to see him opt for a move up to 154. Martinez did object to the 157 catchweight demand from Williams, and after beating him, he did mention a fight Mayweather and Pac at a catchweight of 157 (or something around therse), suggesting his preference to not cut too far down.

Claiming history? He, Pacquiao, is not claiming anything. I've not heard him brag about being an 8-division champ. That's the media's doing. And again, their talk of fighting Cotto - a small LMW - is a repeat of their Margarito stunt........picking a weak LMW for a quick buck. It's not their way of saying...."Yeah, we'll kick anyone's ass at 154"

He started with that so they wouldnt drain him too much. He then said he will fight them at 154 for the LMW belt. 155 for his MW belts.

So how is it ok for Pac to fight Cotto for the 154 lb belt but not Martinez at 154?? See i dont get that reasoning. IF he is fighting at 154 then fight the best and give the fans a good fight. Not a gimme where we all know the outcome.
