Just back from the Citywest. Never again getting to and from there is a ****ing nightmare. Even when the Luas is finished its just a nightmare to get to and back.

As for the card and fights I seen. I thought Tims v Sweeney was a very close match and I would of had it a draw to be fair because in some of those later rounds it seemed to me that Sweeney was doing the better work.

The 4 rounder with the lad with the green gloves Levan I think i could of got it his name wrong. But he looked good and if he wanted to stop it he could of done.

Kaite Taylor looked good had to go for a slash during this while queing up she knocked the girl down and I missed it.

Fittzy v Belghecham I was impressed with Fittzy tonight done what was asked and the stopage in my view was the right call from the ref. Belghecham after the fight lost it big time and what he did to the ref was uncalled for and he should get his purse taken away or some fine.

As for the Big Bang what can you say he got some punches in but Rigo looks very classy live in the flesh. Big Bang was just beaten by a top class fighter but tried. You cant take much out of the fight but for Casey it was a step too far. Saying that Euro level he might have a chance but at World Level it may well be a step to far.

Finaly the old da his tonge was hanging out for some of those ring girls floating about the ring tonight. It was a while before I seen the old man with that twinkle in his eye like he did tonight.

 

What did alf do to the ref?

 

Got aggressive, pushed the ref and threw a few swipes at him.

 

I totally agree. He has a good head on his shoulders and took it well. He didnt get a prolonged beating or seriously KO'd - so that is a positive. He tried his best and it wasnt his night and Rigo showed his pedigree.

 

hopefully brian magee can turn the night around for us,a decent performance in itself without even winning would lift the mood.not in good form after that show.

 

Yep Willie showed he's a very classy character. However he was completely out of his depth. He never should have been let near Rigo. Thankfully it only lasted a round so there was no sustained infliction of damage.

I thought Dunnes analysis was spot on. It's alright saying if you get a world title shot just grab it but whats the point if you get demolished. As Bernard said he could have held the EBU for a while and gained more experience and grown as a fighter. Now he's been wiped out in a round, fallen in the rankings and has a long hard road back to where he was just a few short months ago. I'd agree with Rock that it's likely to be a couple of years before he gets back to an EBU title shot

I'm dreading watching Magee now

I wasnt sitting too far away from you. You didnt have a Limerick jersey on by any chance as there were a couple of lads in that section with cameras taking photos. And weres the picks of the ring girls.

 

Quality, I am glad it was a good night for you and you old man. From what I saw on tv Fitz was going a great job on Belghecham and the replay showed most of the punches landed - when the stoppage was called. Although, he could have went on. Still, fair play to Fitz, I didnt expect him to win that.

I feel really bad for the Big Bang - it wasnt his fault, he did all he could, and if he looks at the big picture he has had a great 18 months.

 

Brian is a tough guy and a well seasoned fighter. My remark was derogatory towards him. Watching Willie getting bashed just put me in a bad mood.

Brian is really up against it and I just hope he can settle into the fight and weather any early storm and then see what develops. Again, I wasn't running down Magee I'm just feeling a bit glum.

Magee has had a great career and this title shot is as hard earned as it is well deserved. I'll be rooting for Brian all the way

Lads the gulf in class between No where to hyde and Dolphil was huge,Garys three lads were absolutely class the dolphil lads not so much.
The early undercard was poor enough,I thought the scoring on Timms Sweeny was correct except i had sweeny winning
Fitz was getting schooled before the crazy stoppage it was obvious the ref hadnt done his homework,Belecham takes to the ropes and covers when under pressure so i thought it was as shite decision but his raction was very OTT and shouldnt be tolerated.
Willie was thrown in well over his head in a wing and a prayer and it didnt work out for him.Still well done Willie.

 

Hang on lads. Someone said Fitz won every round before the stoppage. Now he was getting schooled? Which is it?
