    prospect Viorel Simion (13-0 5KOs) had the toughest fight of his career but he managed to win a close eight round split decision over Pedro Navarrete (25-11, 14KOs). The scores were 75-73, 76-72 for Simion and 75-74 for Navarrette. The fight had fireworks, with Simion going down twice in the second, and then Navarrete going down in the sixth - but Simion lost a point in the same round for a rabbit punch.
