Firstly , there is nothing wrong with how Vitali fought , it is clear he knows nothing significant landed and was not happy with Solis. The heavyweight division has now become an absolute joke , apart from the brothers , Haye and Adamek , there is very little out there. I personally think that commisions should look at body fat content rather than weigh ins for fights, as there is no limit on the disgraceful shapes some of these so called 'contenders' come in. This used to be the greatest sporting acheivement , being the heavweight champion of the world . But now it is in a terrible state. After Haye vs Wlad (which could be great), the horizon for the heavyweight division looks very bleak. Peace.
ummmm..... nice you finally caught a clue not to bother watching heavyweights ive actively NOT watched heavyweights for the past couple years.... and no regrets. exactly why watch these big ass ****ers throw around 40 punches per round, less in the later rounds, and not get a knockout? There are much lighter weights out there giving you DOUBLE the action, and as much if NOT MORE KO ratio...
I dont bother to watch and pay little roided Chinese Kung-fu either.:yep f'ing developing countries joke boys.:-(
well actually they often do give knockouts. The 3 title challengers Klitschkos and Haye have great KO %.
Wlad and Vitali both have a great punch output, and have a high KO percentage. The reason you often get double the action with the lighter weight classes is because both of the fighters in the ring are competitive. That rarely happens in a Klit fight.
If thats what you expect to see in boxing, then stick to watching little men fight! But KO do actually happend just as much in heavyweight as in the smaller weightclasses
If you think the HW division is a **** poor joke with the klits. Imagine what it would be without them
This is far from a bad era, never mind the Klitschko's, the likes of Adamek, Haye, Povetkin, Chagaev, Peter, Boystov, Helenius and Chambers would be a tough opponent for anybody. We all no why you really hate this era.
I expect much better than this at top level. Very disappointing. At least it was on at a reasonable time. Imagine you'd stayed up till 4 o clock for that.
This was pretty much the last event i was looking forward to, regarding competition towards the Klitschko's. Haye's going to get picked apart, and Adamek just is not good enough to cause a upset...
I think Lennox got it with this recent comment from the NY daily news; The American audience wants the knockout," Lewis said. "The Klitschkos may knock out a guy, but they take a high number of rounds to do it. "You're not going to win a lot of fans by beating a guy up over a lot of rounds before you knock him out. It's like playing with your food before you eat it. If you're so dominate over your opponent, then get him out of there. Show him he doesn't belong in the ring with you." Regardless of whether Lennox was much different when he fought, it's a fair point. They box in a style which is not conducive to an exciting fight and dominate the little competition that is out there. I don't have anti-klitschko agenda, i think alot of what they do and how they carry themselves is great for the sport. In terms of the event I think boxing in general could do with putting on stronger cards, and following some of the UFC model, fighter of the night, best ko etc. Too many fights, especially the heavyweights, involve two overweight guys plodding around the ring not doing much. It's killing the sport and losing the casual fans. Without the groundswell of interest from the general public it's hard to develop boxers into personalities that people want to follow.
