The knockdown was caused by a right hook to the temple. Solis did appear to injure his right knee on the way to the ground, but the unsteady left leg leads me to believe the shot was hard, short & Solis' equilibrium was off kilter. It was certainly not a dive, that's ridiculous.:nono I'd sooner believe Solis had a leg injury prior to the fight, but he was bouncing around too much in the early part of the round for that to be the case IMO.
:rofl How does losing like that warrant a rematch? How does it keep his reputation intact? :rofl < In case you missed it the first time. Solis came in low & Vitali countered with a short right hook to the temple. It's the type of punch most orthodox fighters would never throw, therefore it's very hard to defend against and we all know the shot you don't see coming is usually the shot that knocks you out. Another point is the delayed reaction after the punch before he went down. Also common when your equilibrium is knocked out of whack. :rofl < Just in case you missed the first 2...................
Vitali clearly thought so. All these people acting like experts (I'm not saying you), talking about temple shots like they are impossible to take and that, despite it being an arm punch, need to realize two things. 1, Vitali clearly had an issue with Solis going down because he knew the shot wasn't enough to hurt him. 2, Solis has since said the punch didn't hurt him and looking at his reaction when he's down, that's true. He immediately grabs his leg, so this wasn't a serious punch. There's far too much emphasis on this supposed temple shot. Realistically, whilst it's a sensitive area, 99% of those punches are took with ease. Combined that with Vitali's and Solis' reaction and it is clear it wasn't a knockout punch. That wouldn't surprise me. I do think there was a slight injury but I don't think it was as serious as they've claimed. He was looking for an easy way out.
Agreed. It looked like the pain was "shooting" from one leg to the other. Solis clearly didn't want to be in the ring for some reason. It's a shame because it looked like a good first round for Solis, he maybe even did enough to win the round prior to the dive. Vitali was controlling the pace but Solis was landing the better shots. Pathetic all around.
Nah...watch his left leg as the shot lands, you can't fake that. Caught him on the temple and took his left leg from under him, maybe could have tried harder in trying to get up or maybe even making the ref aware that he had hurt his leg. Very much an anti-climax. What was interesting from that short fight though, was the fact that Solis was able to land quite easily on Vitali. Not sure if Vitali was just warming up, but his reflexes didn't look sharp at all.
do you think that shot would have caused a fitter athlete to lose his legs in such a way? I dont. i feel the shot only caused solis to **** his leg up because of his years of obesity. Solis only has himself to blame
Was it actually his left leg which was hurt though? I thought it was his right. The second paragraph is right and it adds to my theory (probably a conspiracy theory) that Solis was looking for a way out but one which allows for a rematch. If he stays away from the ring for 6 months, calls Vitali out, then a rematch is possible and the media wouldn't dismiss it. It was looking like it could be an intriguing fight.
Could have been a number of different factors. I found it strange that he was training a couple of days before a massive bout with full on winter clothing. That may have contributed to it, he may not have been fully hydrated going in. You see it all the time when a boxer drains to make weight, they can't get the fluids back in their body in time and that results in some very ordinary looking shots to cause problems. They may have made a mistake in trying to make certain weight, too late.
The way to get a rematch is to put a good, entertaining fight, not go out with a knee injury in round 1. That's probably the least likely way to get a rematch.
it's like Aztecas suddenly has an equally stupid british alter ego... you just substitute Haye for Humberto Soto and any Klit for Pac and there you have it. insanity....
It was his right leg, but I said if you watch his left leg as the punch lands...he has no control over it, that can't be faked IMO. A rematch may be possible, but only if Solis goes away, loses weight, beats some good opposition...then a rematch could be intriguing. He has to show and do all of the above though before Vitali would consider it probably.
Sorry Jack, but Solis was hurt by the punch. Granted the punch didn't look like much, both BOTH of Solis' legs turned to jelly, then in falling, he hurt his knee.
Jack I think that Grazing shot made some damage to Solis Brain and solis end up on his ass. Haye has had similars ko of Punch just touching head and going down. I think Solis quit thou. he has Glass Head like David Haye.
