2010 was not a very good year for Floyd Mayweather Jr. Bad PR moves, foot in mouth incidents, arrests, and oh yea, NOT fighting for 40 million dollars against Manny Pacquiao. Mix all of that together in a bottle and you have the Mayweather screw up cocktail of a lifetime. With all of that said, the end isn't here for Floyd. He still can pull out of this and rise to the top once again. This content is protected Let's just play make believe here for a minute. Let's pretend the big fight went down and Mayweather was victorious over Pacquiao. The first thing that he would have done for his legacy is put one of the greatest fighters of all time (Manny Pacquiao) on his list of opponents he has defeated. Secondly, he shuts up many boxing fans that have called him a coward. Thirdly, if he plays his cards right and acts like a gentleman in victory, he will repair some of the damage that he has inflicted upon himself. He can fix his image. This content is protected The road to a Mayweather rise to the top starts with a boxing match against the reigning king, Manny Pacquiao. Even if Floyd were to be defeated by Pacquiao, he would still repair a lot of his image. Not to mention, he would deposit a large amount of money into his bank. If they did a rematch clause in the contract, he can bank around 100 million when it's all said and done. This content is protected This content is protected
He's done. I feel sorry for his legacy. People will remember him for ducking one of the biggest fight in the history of the sport.
Mayweather is a douche. Instead of taking on his biggest challenge, he made up rumors about the guy who might actually give him a fight. Like a **** would. He disrespects his opponents and disrespects the sport. **** Floyd and his piece of **** father and uncle.
Floyd can save face, he needs to fight pac in november and clearly beat him then fight martinez at 154 earl 2012 and win, then beat khan and retire.
Disagree, he should keep a **** the world attitude after beating emmanuel's AZZ. THe American media never had his back despite his efforts for the red, white, and blue during the '96 Olympics held right in America. Wouldn't make sense to start playing cute for the camera.
at some point fans and people who hates him needs to just let it go!!!! he has exactly what he wanted out of the sport(business) which is a A LOT OF MONEY and for people to remember him (for better or for worse) just except it and move on there are tons of fighter with talent find a new one to hate or love or just enjoy the sport.
Great fighter, but over the last few years he has really not done much at all to enhance his legacy. If he fought and beat Pac, Martinez, Khan (like cesare said) and maybe Berto or whoever is the no.1 ww other than him or Pac, then his legacy would be sky high imho. He just hasn't got the balls though to do such things. Shame really as he is stupidly taleneted. Just doesn;t have the heart of a champ these days though.
One thing Floyd has always been his humble and gracious and victory, but he never gets acknowledged for it. There is nothing he can do at this point because he has so many haters there will always be excuses. Pac will be too small, Martinez too old, they will say Khan was green and that he was dragged up from 140. Floyd does want he wants because he's not stupid enough to think that people will actually judge him fairly and give credit where credit is due.
LOl...FLOYD CANNOT REDEEM HIS "ENTIRE" IMAGE OFF A PAC WIN... I am saying it now because it makes sense before he beats Pac to say it. "IF FLOYD MAYWEATHER FIGHTS AND BEATS PACQUIAO HE WILL NOT GET AS MUCH CREDIT AS SOME THINK BECAUSE PAC WILL BE LABELED AS "SMALL"... Then a new name will pop up..I believe Sergio Martinez is currently the next guy to beat floyd after Manny fails... What im sayin is that there will always be an excuse...wether "too small" or "too old" or "not his weight" etc etc etc etc etc... Pac is no different..he beats pac and there will still be those fans out saying that he was too small and floyd doesn't get credit beating on smaller fighters... not saying that I want that to be said but lets face it...excuses always rise after the fight happens.
He will never fix his 'rep', fantastically talented boxer but he's a twat. When people think your a twat, you can't fix it
No , I dont agree . There were names before he went into retirement, since his return he has had one good win (Mosley). But he came out of retirement two years ago.
If he beat PAC and Martinez, khan and berto would be pointless! Do nothing to enhance his legacy! If anything he'd he ship criticism for cherry picking paydays!
