briggs vs klitscho..

In modern times certainly. There was some footage of it before the 'fight' last night and it reminded me how defensless Briggs was. Who knows how he ended on his feet

 

I wouldn't call it "savage" but rather a consistent, systematical beatdown of a defenseless Briggs. It's a scary sight though to see a 250 pound man dropping right hand after another on the opponent.

I think that this would have been a bad beating in prety much any era.

 

Yeah it was a beat down alright,it landed Briggs in intensive care in the hospital,i wonder how different it would be now if Briggs won, do u think he would still have the belt?

 

Briggs should be given credit for this.

The better heavyweights of this era like Sam Peter, can't even offer to go the distance aginst Vitally, but he did it basicaly for no reason other than pride and took a horible beating.

I would like to see a prime Briggs fight VK.

 

Was worse than Ali-Holmes. Briggs got hit harder and more often than Ali did...

 

Agreed, i'd love to see the Peak Briggs who fought Lewis against VK.

Anyone who claims these beatings don't rank up there in boxing history as savage need to score some glasses...

Shannon Briggs' corner or the ref should have called the fight off after round 10 for sure... Briggs took way too many unnecessary blows...

Yes, a mismatch before it started.Briggs had done nothing to deserve a title shot and all he offered was courage ,the corner and the referee should have stopped it around the 8th ,it was no longer competitive and merely target practice. Dreadful.

 

Briggs in the 1990's did not take a good punch. This Briggs did, as his neck and build were much stronger. He took flush shorts from Ibragimov and Lakhovich without any effect. Briggs lost his legs and appeared to be out on his feet at least once in his match vs. Vitali. It was a bad beating that sent Briggs to the hospital. I agree, Briggs corner or the ref should have halted the match.

 

Agreed.

Especially since the scorecards were about as close as the Holmes/Cobb fight. And since the bout, we hear how bad Shannon got ripped off financially. And that beating may have been worse than the one administered in the ring.

Briggs could always take a good punch, he just had horrible, horrible stamina. For some reason he decided to conserve his energy and show up in shape against Vitali...it would have been better if he just gassed out after the second round and fell over.

 

I do agree that Briggs at 263 pounds was in-shape for his fight with V.K. last October... No way in hell could Briggs hang in there for 12 rds and take that beating had he been burping and farting off the sofa with Dorito's and Kool-Aid during training.... Briggs just ain't the fighter V.K. is... Cheerio.....
