I have heard him mentioned as the future of American boxing along with Porter, Jones and Berto.

I think he might be the most boring to watch out of those 4 and to be honest with you was not impressed with him on Friday. Has a Roy Jones type of style but without the power. I pick the above 3 to beat him. So far i think Jones has the better potential of them all.

Anyone else not impressed with Solomon??

he is an exciting prospect to watch along fellow americans Fernando Guerrerro, Mikey Garcia, Jose Benavidez. of course solomon might be a bit boring but he is pretty complete in my opinion. we will see what happens.

Hes solid, but yeah I wasn't that impressed either. He did fight a smart, well paced fight but there wasn't anything that jumped out at me.

Solid but not exceptional. Maybe he will reach a belt through opportunity but he just doesn't look very complete to me.

    Total lack of inside game.

I had heard so much hype about how he was the best of the young guns coming out. I was hyped to watch him fight then he looked terrible. Well i guess not terrible but just won thats it. Not a performance that makes me want to see him on HBO or Showtime.
Also the dude is 27. Not really young either.

Yeah, he doesn't look like much of a learner either, i've seen him in 1 or 2 other fights and he looked pretty uninspiring.

Middling athleticism+incomplete skill+middling conditioning+weak fight over fight improvement=good gatekeeper, usually.

He has the flashy style but not the punch to become a star, and fights a bit too risky to get past a solid counterpuncher, but he can give most WWs a run for their money. If I were him I'd settle down a bit, get rid of wasted motions especially jump-ins, put more weight behind punches and look to time opponents instead of catching them on speed, that will do additional damage. He's in good hands so I expect him to improve, and if he does that, he could pick up a belt.

Once he stops thinking he's the new Roy Jones Jr. - he just might settle down and find his own stlye. I agree - wasn't that impressed by him - but would like to see more of him.

I think Solomon is going to be a good fighter but not a star or pfp fighter. I think his lack of punch doesn't help him and he has a bit of a risky style for not being a power puncher. There are some tools there so it will be interesting to see how far he gets. I think he and Shawn Porter would make for the perfect type of ShoBox fight.

Brad Solomon is not a prospect anymore is a 27 year old contender with only 17 fights He is a world rated fighter. But yes is boring to watch and run a lot.
