Tony Bellew - whats happening with him

I always thought if you couldnt defend your title in so many days that they do vacate it so the title is still on showcase and people fighting for it. Seems it is weird that people who get injured and are out for so long hold onto the title let them be the mandatory for the new champion when they come back to fitness.

 

I handed in a letter from my surgeon otherwise I'd have lost my title and my mandatory status for the British title, my next aim is to become mandatory for the European title

Why?

The British was still there for McKenzie to fight for if he wished..... plus, we don't want millions of vacant title fights all the time.

Look at the farce at middleweight in the past two years or so with the British and European.

he would be able to guarantee you a shot at the winner of mcenzie vs whoever without much trouble. thats why he is no.1

 

thats more to do with a fighter avoiding someone than anything else.

if mcenzie was the champion he would have vacated by warrens order....case in point Ryan Rhodes.

 

The idea anyone is going to 'give up' a title for moral reasons is so laughable its untrue. This is boxing for ****s sake, you don't go around hurting your own prospects. Very few others look out for them.
