His toughest test yet, Jorge Solis, will expose the the many flaws that Gamboa possesses. You heard it here first. Solis is the much better technician, he's experienced against top-flight competition, and he punches hard enough to put Gamboa on his ass.
Solis is a solid fighter and has the style to give Gamboa fits. I expect a good fight here but Gamboa has too much firepower and beats Solis.
This is absolutely a live and dangerous fight for Gamboa, his biggest test to date, it is just overshadowed my major events in a busy year of boxing. I think Solis will find a way to land his left hook, something Gamboa is working on but old habits die hard. The question is how will El Ciclon react when he's troubled, can he adapt and change up to box his way through or maybe get ahead of things and stop Solis early? I hope he goes through because he's exciting inside and simply a cool dude and a good family man outside of the ring, good for the sport. That however is no guarantee of a win, and Solis is a very solid customer. My pick is Gamboa by competitive UD and not without troubles.
that's a good analysis, without going overboard. yes Solis is a solid fighter, well rounded and well skilled. He can put on a good fight. But the odds here go with Gamboa.
I agree about his defense but I really don't think he has a glass jaw. Even though he's been down several times, I've never really seen him hurt. They seemed to come more from him being off balance.
It's easy to see this will be another Gamboa UD. With Solis perhaps getting a flash knockdown at some point in the mid-rounds.
you lost your damn mind!! Gamboa is one of the best pure talent in the sport right now, Solis might get KO in the 2nd round
Gamboa's last fight exposed what everyone's known all along: he's vulnerable against a skilled boxer. He gets hit, and can be controlled in the ring, to a degree, by that type of boxer. But, he's so gifted, has so much speed and power, that he can go very far in spite of his limitations. Gamboa is an upset waiting to happen, but I'd put money on him overcoming any upset and continuing to improve.
