The jab was landing on the gloves mostly though and Solis was landing the left hook

 

He was #1 WBC but only #10 Ring.

WBC sucks. IBF is the only organization at HW that has been somewhat pushing for the top contenders to face each other and earn their ranking.

-Povetkin had to beat Byrd and Chambers to be #1 and he was promptly dropped as soon he started dicking around.

-Chambers had to beat Brock, Dimitrenko, and Samuel Peter to be #1.

-And now Helenius has to be Peter and than Chambers to be #1.

Meanwhile, Solis beat Ray Austin to be #1

They moved Valuev out due to inactivity, and Solis entered at #10/#11(counting Wlad as #1), a couple weeks back or so.

Solis has already been dropped out of the rankings on their site.

It's like they ranked Solis just to boost VK's win.

 

That Solis deserved a top ten rating is beyond doubt. Just his victory over Austin justified a top ten rating.

 

Just to clarify: the point is that Solis belonged in the top ten, and not whether Ring rated him.

Ring is not necessarily the authority on ranking fighters. After all, Ring had Boystov and Dmitrienko in their top ten long before either beat a top 20 fighter. Come to think of it, Boystov still hasn't beaten a top 20 guy. Austin is better than anyone Boystov or Dmitrienko ever beat. To question Solis's rating even after Solis beat Austin is silly.

I gave the edge to the challenger Solis he landed a left hook and a right hand and showed a bit of aggression but then Vitali landed some jabs and the right hook.....even if you give Solis the benefit before the KD it was not as impressive as the way Vitali as a contender fought Lennox Lewis in the 1st 2 rds of their fight...Vitali dominated Lewis early until the cut...In this fight Solis tried to land, did land about 2 shots, covered up and moved pretty well but he did not react well to the 1st clean punch that Vitali landed, so if we speculate we may have to speculate that if Solis got up there would be more punches of that type to contend with.

Solis got caught with a punch to the side of the head when he was moving in. I'm not sure if he saw the punch coming. Anyway, Solis was hurt, put his gloves up to his head, wobbled, lost his balance ( which happens when you are hurt ), then hurt his knee.

I think Solis was hurt by the punch. They don't call Vitali, " Dr. Iron Fist " for nothing! Vitali did not know about the knee injury in real time, which clearly happened after the punch, and was upset with the quick ending. Keep in mind Vitali made $15,000,000.00 for this fight. I doubt the people who paid to see him were happy with the result.

Since the medical report has confirmed a torn knee, Vitali says he now understands why the fight was stopped.
