Floyd Mayweather is the best pure boxer on the planet...maybe ever.

But he will not be remembered as such unless he faces his biggest challenge.

Ali wouldnt be "The greatest" if he diddnt face Frazier and Foreman.

and "Money" wont be anything but a big mouth jerk in 10-20 years unless he faces Pac-Man.

As for the question you asked: If its not against Pac, I don't care anymore.

I think more fans are starting to come to this mindset. The Pacquiao fight seems further away now than it ever has ($100 million supposed PBF price tag; defamation lawsuit continuing; Floyd legal troubles still unresolved), and Floyd hasn't fought in almost a year.

Floyd's relevance seems to be on the wane. I know he will continue to try to gravy-train off of Pacquiao's build-up for the Mosley fight, but that tactic will bring fans back to one reality: Pac is fighting, Floyd is not. That's not the impression you want in people's heads if you're Mayweather.

If Pacquiao ends up fighting Marquez next, which seems a very real possibility, I think the window will have closed on a possible Mayweather-Pac match. A 35-year-old Mayweather, concerned about his unblemished record, isn't likely to want to step in the ring with Pacquiao. If he ever wanted to do so.

He fought a lightweight at 147 and a 39 year old looking for his pension off a 15 month layoff it is better to be a fan of Lights Out Leary.

He will fight again. Like I said earlier, he will fight Pac because he has to. He knew when he came out of retirement that he had to fight Pac. If he thought he didn't need to fight Pac then he is crazy. He knows that if he doesn't fight Pac he will not be known as the best fighter of his generation. He doesn't want to be 50 years old and there showing old Pac fights and saying he was better than him. I don't know when, but I guarantee he will fight Pac.

He contradicts himself. You can't say you don't care about legacy and say your the greatest of all time. Or when people say your are the former number 1 p4p you get defensive. When he says that it is just an act. You don't get to his level of greatness and not care about your legacy. I call bull****. Also Pac is his biggest pay day as well. If he truly doesn't care about his legacy at least do it for the money.

He will fight. He will win. His opponent will be called old/shot/too small/too big/whatever can be said to discredit said win after and not before

Retiring looks like the most likely option unfortunately. I think he's not greater than Pacquiao but he could have been and I think he's better. He doesn't want to prove that and seems to have lost the fire that drives those to conquer challenges. Since his comeback he has only fought 1 worthy fighter in Shane and he came back in '09, almost two years ago. Fighting isn't in his interest that much especially since he's so inactive. An old Hopkins (46 BTW) recently has been more active than Floyd, that's a problem.
