I am competing in the golden gloves in a week..

Within the past 2 and a half weeks, I have went from walking around at 140-141, to walking at 137-138.. After an average training session I weigh about 134-135..

My target weight by Friday morning is 132, I am guessing if I hit my normal 35 by Thursday, I can drain the rest of the weight out, and just not eat until the weigh in.. But I'd like to have to spend the least amount of time in the sauna suit as possible, so any tips?

You'd prefer to starve instead of hit the sauna?
    First mistake!

Drink a lot of water until the day before the fight (1.5-2gal/day). You should just **** out the extra weight on Friday. Might even want a mild laxative on Thursday.

Do not cut back on food unless you absolutely have to. You definitely want to eat on the morning of the fight. And if you end up having to use a sauna, you'd be better off not fighting.

The superhydration method outline above is a decent one.
    Avoid the ****ing laxatives!
Sauna is a much better option than not eating.

I always go to the weigh in on an empty stomach, no food and no drinking until I made weight. Most people I've met do that, unless they have weight to spare.

I thought he said not eat the whole day until the weighin and then soon after fight in the evening, that's how the shows I've been to have been done.
Although in hindsight he could have something I guess.
Surely the sweating out is a bit more useful come fight time though?

Using a sauna is to be avoided imo. Makes your body all noodle-like, at least from my experience. Not eating is probably worse though.

Sucks when the weigh-in is at like 6pm and you fight at 8pm though. You make weight, but you haven't eaten in almost 24hr, which is bound to have an effect on you.

The best option is always to have a couple pounds to spare, obviously. Tough to arrange in a week though.

I always ate up till I went to bed the day before. A big dump in the morning, and after that all I ate was perhaps one sandwich in the morning if I felt I could afford it, but nothing liquid of course.

It's a trade off really, you don't want to be 100% starved and you don't want to dehydrate too much either. As long as there was 1.5 or more hours between weigh-in and the fight being a bit hungry did not bother me, and you usually have at least that.

Not eating anything all day is mental. Don't do that. Combo of the sauna and water method will work best.

    It's called syperhydration.
Your body will try and **** out more water as you are having such vast quantities coming in, but you continue to urinate more for slightly longer than you are intaking that amount of fluid.

Just thinking about fighting after draining makes me feel sick. I used to go from 63.5 to 60 within 1-2 days to fights, never fought well there so I moved up. I used to think that I could get enough into me after the weigh ins but I still didn't have any energy.

Well, after drinking over a gallon of water throughout the day, I weighed myself before training and was down to 135, and after a half an hour to 45 minute session was down to 133..

I am eating lightly, but by no means am I starving.
