I remember Hoya saying Manny taking the test was the only way the fight was gonna be made and how we should all be proud of Mayweather for taking a stand on PEDs

Well Well, funny How things work, A partner/Stakeholder of Golden Boy is now being called to take the test for the fans sake, yes I know it isn't in the contract, but one should practice what he or his company preaches, and lets not act like he didn't look 90 year sold against Roy, but looked 30 something against Pascal.

Golden Boy if you are who you say you are keep your word, and do it for the fans like you told Manny to.

    from the scene:

Let's take a step back to March 2008, when Golden Boy Promotions was trying to put together a May pay-per-view fight between Shane Mosley and Zab Judah.

Judah and his team were demanding for Mosley to take an independent blood test before the planned May event. At least in the case of Mosley, there was some evidence to back up Judah's demand for an additional blood test outside of the required drug tests from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Mosley did admit to inadvertently taking performance enhancing drugs before the 2003 rematch with De La Hoya.

Golden Boy Promotions rejected Judah's demand for an independent blood test or any additional tests beyond those of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Schaefer told the Associated Press "We are not going to do other tests than the Nevada commission requires. The fact is Shane is not a cheater and he does not need to be treated like one."

it's obvious that Golden Boy don't want Floyd to fight Pacquiao so they can keep matching him up against no-hopers from their ranks and raking in the millions. They are probably there whispering in Floyd's ear "Pac is on PEDs, ask for a test, don't fight him."

Now they are hyping up Khan to be the next victim against Floyd.

Since 2007 Floyd has fought nothing but Golden Boy fighters.

Let's not keep starting threads based on heresy and rumor. This is hurting the sport. The athletic commissions need to be in charge of the testing - not the fighters.

There was an interview from the Mosley-Mayweather presser where De La Hoya, looking and sounding as phoney as ever, declared it was an epic and historic occasion in the entire history of boxing because both guys came together and agreed to do random drug testing, which fans all over the world were celebrating and it was for the good of boxing and the future of the sport.

I remember thinking. "how cheesy and lame can this ****wit get?"

Now that it's become and issue with his fighter, I have no doubt gag orders will be set in place and he'll be as silent on the issue as he is with the fishnet scandal.

Then why the hell should Hopkins do it? They're fighting in less than 2 months. Who is going to conduct the testing? Who's paying for it? You can't just haphazerdly conduct comprehensive drug testing. Pascal is just talking ****. If he really wanted Hopkins to be tested, he would've requested that it be in the contract.

He should have asked for it before signing the fight.

    Now its too late.

I liked Wlad's response. Sure, I'll take the test. If I pass, YOU PAY. Povetkin never mentioned it again.... :think

So now any fighter can just start trash talking his opponent and accuse him of taking PED's? Does this mean the accused has to submit to extra blood/urine tests outside of what the commision implements everytime his opponent wants to throw accusations his way? This is getting rediculous. Its either mandatory or not.

Baseball officials long turned their heads the other way because roids sold tickets. States like Nevada and New Jersey don't want to lose the business that major fights brings into their states.

Personally I'd like to see them start taking hair samples from all fighters. (Well, lets say over a certain purse amount to make it economically viable) Then, if one side wants the tests done, they pay for it.

Oh will people just shut up about the steroids already. We live in such a cynical ****ing age. Give it a rest, please. For the love of boxing, just stop it. Let things go it's natural course, the cheaters always get found out, stop being cynical and shitting on everything.
