Is Sergio the next Great White hope even if hes latino??

If Im speaking spanish I will say latino, if im speaking english I will say latin.But that and race are totally diferent things.

Latin: The term in english.

Im form Argentina myself and you are wrong, argentina 150 years ago had the most significant african population in south america along with brazil. But the wars the epidemics etc decimated the population, there are a lot of afro argentines in argentina most in buenos aires, and there is a lot of mestizo population but in some folks its hard to notice because they are so racially mixed that its hard to tell, just go to argentina and take a walk in mid/low class neighborhoods so you can see what im talking about.

 

well actually THE LATIONS are ALL white ! If you are refering to Spanish-Protugese America, then that is another matter. Latino America is not the corect form because the latins have never stepped on America continent and never colonised a population on the New Continent. Never !

The latin culture and languages came to America principally from the portuguesse and spanish so there are a latin America in the south and central parts of the continent, along the north part is called Anglo America.

 

First, the Africans of which you speak, as somone already cited, were not indigenuous; they were transported to Latin America per the slave trade.

As for the mestizo population, the demographic numbers do not support your assertion.

That might very well account for it. The Spaniards I have known (to include relatives) say "latin."

Of course, that might be as result--as you intimated-- of their speaking to me in English.

Well, I am from Argentina and despite there are a lot of european descendant people, there are also many mixed descendant (indian-european) people.
I really don't know if Martinez is mixed descendant or not.
The interesting thing is that he speaks a perfect spanish (with a little Spain Spanish accent). Usually guys from low income places like Maidana don't speak too much an they don't have a rich vocabulary. Martinez is from Quilmes, Buenos Aires. It is very diverse but not a high income neighborhood. It has poor zones and middle class zones.

Regarding the latino thing, that category only exist in US. Here you are Argentinian and your skin can be white, dark, etc.
