Over the last 2 years, have you STOPPED being a Floyd Fan?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by sosolid4u09, Mar 30, 2011.

  1. Difficult to be a fan of a fighter who doesn't fight. In the last 2 years, he's fought exactly twice. And before that, it had been almost 2 years since his last fight.

That being said, I'm a fan of Floyd in the sense that I love seeing his fights. They are highly anticipated in my house, even if I think Floyd is a **** personally.

I stopped being a real fan when his style got more and more boring with this pocket-crap. Before that, he was this bouncy guy with possibly the best footwork ever. Never seemed to stand anywhere he didn't intend to. I loved seeing that and always hated Larry Merchant for calling that boring.

I became angry with him, when he quit, proclaiming himself to be the end all King of the World with nothing left to prove and I thought: Mosley, Cotto, Margarito...?! Are you f*cking kiddin' me?!

His welterweight resumee was: Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah, Carlos Baldomir and Ricky Hatton. Or: nobody, mental breakdown, nobody, hype job. All of them 5'7" according to Boxrec. All of them smaller than him.
And Oscar. Mister "I have lost every big fight of my life."

You can't f*cking talk your way to the GOAT position, Floyd, you have to fight for it.

Since his comeback, he's just turned ridiculous in my view. And some of his most glowing supporters as well. Imagine Pacquiao against Mitchell, Judah or Baldomir. He'd kill them. He killed Oscar (yeah, not as good as he was against Floyd, but he annihilated the guy) and Hatton (don't tell me he wasn't the same sh*tty fighter he's been since Tszyu).
On top of that, he fought Cotto, Clottey and Margarito. None of them ATG, but all of them better than Mitchell, Judah (who lost to two of them) and Baldomir. And soon enough, he will destroy Mosley.
    Does he get credit? No.

Baseline: What made me turn away from Floyd is that he's selling sh*t and too many people are buying it.

I will still buy his fights but I would never call myself a fan of his. I used to be one.

still a great fun of floyd, he backs every **** he talks in the ring, strange enough most patcards think floyd is a coward, for a fact he is one of the well set mind vs any opponent in the ring. for a fact Arum never wanted to put cotto vs folyd in the same ring knowing very well the possible outcome since he was promoting them both and by then cotto had a bigger follower than floyd, it could have just killed his then cash cow. magarito was once considered but then baldormir was the rightful champ at welter. in any case margo vs floyd would be a replica of floyd vs corrales, diff only is margo wont be koed but decisioned in the same fashion as gatti. Arum knows even now the possible outcome of floyd vs pacman on neutral ground and thats why till now there is no fight. it's not becoz of floyd or pac refusal to drug test but arum is very experienced in this business he wont let that **** happen untill the cow has run milk dry.

I stopped being a fan of his after he moved to 140lbs. He avoided every great fighter after his struggle with JLC...his resume sucks after that.

It's not just Pac fans that think he's a coward...a lot of fight scribes who have been covering the sport since he was an amateur are convinced he has ducked the best fighters of his era.

I'm still a big fan. How can I not be a fan of such a skilled fighter. But that doesn't stop me from criticizing him and calling out his BS and his ***** moves.

Too common for me to care.

Sugar Ray Robinson, SUgar Ray Leonard, Joe Louis, Marvin Hagler, Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield, MIke Tyson, Pernell WHitaker, FLoyd Jr, etc beat up a women or two in their lives.

I can tell someone to give me a list of their 5 favorite boxers of all time and more often than not there will be at least one wife beater on there.

Only time where I stopped being a fan of someone for what they did outside of the ring was in Ali's case. I didn't like how he backstabbed Joe Frazier despite accepting Frazier's help during his exile.

I was never a Floyd fan but my respect for him as a boxer has certainly dwindled over last few years. He was a badass when he was at the lighter weights. The Mayweather that destroyed Corrales, that was a guy who deserved the highest respect. How the mighty have fallen :verysad
