Dan Rafeal is saying Vitali could return on June 4th and Lyakovich is a possible opponent. Epix is interested in doing the fight as well. Not a bad fight if it does happen.
Surely this is an April Fools? If not, a completely dreadful fight. He was shut out by Valuev, for ****s sake.
Hmm I guess Vitali has to sign a name in order to be in training camp in case Wlad's abs break again. Otherwise there's not too much out there. Valuev is pretty much retired and locked up in slave contracts with Sauerland and Don King. I doubt Dimitrenko, Povetkin or Boytsov want to or will be allowed to fight by their promoters. Especially not in a voluntary title shot with options for K2. Not excited about Liakovich but one thing is for certain. He can take a beating and he doesn't shy away from trading toe-to-toe. But when was the last time he fought? I think Vitali should take a guy who comes off a recent win if possible, an active opponent. I think Liakovich was in legal issues with his promoter?
Cough (bull****) cough. Krasniqi seems to be out of the picture. If Valuev doesn't want the fight, then why not Dimitrenko? Povetkin would be good too but I doubt that happens.
No April Fools on my part, Rafael wrote about it today. I'd prefer to see Vitali take on Povetkin or Chambers but Lyakovich isn't bad. I think he's a better fighter than the one that got beaten by Valuev and wil probably put up a fight againts Vitali. Don't forget Vitali will practicaly be 40 if this fight happens in June. Lyackovich is a big underdog but I think he makes it a fight and Epix is intersted in doing the fight which is good.
Sergei would be a fool to take the fight b/c he hasn't fought good opposition for a while and a severe beating could end future fight earnings (unless he is 'shot' and wants to make whatever cash before he's totally exposed). plus this fight would be hard to sell at this point (at least outside of germany, eastern europe). sergei could well have something left but he should beat another lower 50 guy then climb up a bit, make some money on the way and in a year or two go for another title. with a couple of wins there will be more money for that fight (plus the money made in the interim)
Yea no kidding. Why not Chisora? Is the guy really worse than a semi-retired Liakovich? I guess he is
I hope not. Sergei would take a shellacking against Vitali, it wouldn't be in his interests. Better for him to fight a beatable guy in the top 20
Link? I wouldn't mind Vitali/Chisora. That way the Klits fulfill their obligations--they owe Chisora for stringing him along for the past 7 months.
Its on the ESPN boxing website. He has an article called Dan's notes or something like that. A lot of notes there and the possible Vitali-Lyakovich bout is in there.
Chisora will get his beating all in good time. Being signed to fight Wladimir is the best thing that ever bhappened to him. Boxing fans actually know his name now & he pissed a lot of people off by calling Steward an Uncle Tome for training white fighters.................. Like I said Chisora will be KO'd soon enough.
Other than Dimitrenko and Boystov: Eddie Chambers Ruslan Chagaev Derek Chisora Peter v Helenius winner. If this fight goes ahead it will be pathetic.
