Just watching a few interviews/highlights of him today, and the man is a legend and, other than Mike Tyson, he is without doubt my favourite Boxer of all time. Brought it like no other, had the heart of a lion, nasty ko power, savage inside the ring yet came across as humble outside of it. I remember watching his fight with Mcclellan and even thugh i was only 10/11 years old, you just knew that something amazing had taken place. Tis a shame that there isn't more fighters like him these days.
i was at the mcclellan fight and it is a night i will never forget...... Some things you never forget.....
one of my all time favourites, the guy was a complete and utter warrior, balls to the wall, no surrender type fighter.
I was in the same restaurant as Benn once & spoke to him briefly, he was an absolute gentleman. Different guy inside the ring though, a GREAT fighter. Heard a story about his army boxing days where he used to KO heavyweights. Benn is a legend.
really cool bloke. great fun to be around carlton leach tells some great stories about him in his book. he nearly killed himself, carlton and tony tucker Drifting on a moutain in tenerife
I have no doubt that some of you on here may have seen this before, for those that have or have not please go to the fridge, get a beer, crack it open, sit back, relax and enjoy...:good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGz3gXGLxvk&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/ame] :deal :bbb :bbb :bbb :bbb :bbb :deal
It is only in the last few years that I have forgiven Benn. The man was fun in the ring and outside. Although always a Eubank fan myself, I do recognize, Eric Morecambe and Peter Cook may of been brilliant, but they did not really work without Ernie Wise or Dudley Moore. A very good fighter, who actually learnt from his losses (pre Collins), something that just does not seem to happen now a days.
He came with everything, every fight. He always gave the fans value for money. I miss him too - Legend imo
Agreed Koman. And he actually came to DESTROY his opponents, not just beat them. They definitley do not make them like Nigel Benn any more. He would of been a MASSIVE superstar in today's era.
