Lee won't fight Duddy yet - i t could be a good fight down the line.Any of the others would be good opposition
It could also have to do with McKay being a better fighter than those last few guys he faced. Either way.. Lee did not look great in this match and definitely doesn't deserve the huge hype he is getting. From the interviews, he seems very likeable though and is a pretty good prospect. He's very lucky to have Steward and I really hope his defense gets better. I wonder how Jermain Taylor would feel about Steward saying Lee would beat anyone at MW.. is he even considered a MW now?
Stewart had been saying all along that Lee would be middleweight champ as he was training Taylor who was champ at the time. This must have pissed JT off. Alot of the hype surrounding Lee has been created by Stewart's comments - there's a bit too much i agree but i do think Lee can develop into a legitimate threat at middleweight
Pavlik destroys Lee right now...but that doesn't take away from how good Lee is going to be in the very near future.
Destroy...even if pavlik wins, which he won't. There is no way he would destroy..Lee has power andcan box. Pavlik is a slugger/brawler with a bad chin. Lee like Taylor has firepower as well.
I heard that and laughed Thats a crazy statement from Manny Lee was slick again tonight, job well done
This is awesome. Emmanuel Steward is on a mission to get Kelly Pavlik. That's a new rivalry of sorts. Trainer vs fighter. Andy Lee looks like he has the goods. I'd be interested to see where he goes once he advances in the division.
His KO of Daniels deserves a little respect - as short, compact, accurate, powerful a hook KO you'll see. Really impressed me so far, and expect good things from him.
does anyone have this fight on tape, or as a computer file? i watched all the undercards, but just as the Lee fight started i had to sit down for family holiday dinner. the family didnt understand when i said i wanted to eat by myself in the family room, so i missed the entire thing. do u guys know if rte.ie has an archive of stuff? i searched aroudn their site a little, but couldnt find one.
I think another point that can be made is this... perhaps Steward's remarks about Lee and Pavlik are simply a marketing strategy. It must be difficult to get Lee into good fights, since his C-level competition is always overmatched. The risk/reward for many B-level fighters would seem to be much more risk and very little reward. He may just be trying to make any fight he can get, because fights against C-level guys is nothing but a waste of time now.
if they don't rush Lee then he definately has the tools to be a future champion, no question. A fight against Pavlik would be ridiculous right now though, because he hasn't even fought a legit b-level guy yet. At least step up and fight guys the level of Howard Eastman (like Duddy just did) or possibly the winner of Pascal/Miranda, which would be a great fight for Lee at this point.
